Cannabis Oil On Cruise?

I am sure this has been discussed before but I can't find anything on it. In Oct we are going on a cruise with some friends. The lady has been prescribed by a physician, Cannibis Oil for some of her problems. I know what Carnival says about not bringing it onboard but is that also with a doctors prescription? She needs this to function normally each day. Thanks in advance for any help.

It is not allowed, with or without a prescription.

Carnival recognizes that some states in the U.S. have fully legalized the use of recreational and/or medical marijuana. However, cruise lines are required to follow U.S. federal law, which strictly prohibits possession and use of marijuana and other illegal, controlled substances.

Since all cruise terminals in the U.S. are federal facilities, the terminals and our ships are drug-free zones. Law enforcement and federal agents are present at all terminal facilities to conduct screening measures and random searches may be implemented. All bags may be subject to drug screening, including at foreign ports of call where authorities are often present enforcing local laws. Any guest found to be in possession of illegal drugs will be denied boarding and no refunds or compensation will be issued. Additionally, guests may be subject to other actions as determined by the authorities.

However, Carnival Cruise Line follows U.S. federal law, which strictly prohibits possession and use of recreational/medicinal marijuana and other illegal controlled substances."

The beneficial ingredient in Cannabis oil is THC, which is the illegal drug in marijuana.  And, Cannabis oil has a higher concentration of THC than CBD oil.  Can she bring it, and not have any problems?  Probably.  Can it be detected?  Sure, drug dogs are trained to detect THC.  Could it be confiscated?  Sure.  Would there be any other concerns?  Only if detected in a place like the Bahamas, where they routinely fine tourists heavily for pot products.  Does the doctor's prescription make a difference?  No.  None of the crew are allowed to have a prescription for this, as stated, the ship is a drug free zone, and the ships have a zero tolerance policy.

Before this thread turns into a "I was able to GET AWAY WITH" or "I KNOW SOMEONE THAT BROUGHT ON-BOARD" or, IT'S NOT STRICTLY ENFORCED.....

 

All cruise lines prohibit passengers from bringing cannabis products, including both recreational and medical, on their vessels.

 

Even if the cruise ship departs from a state where cannabis products are legal, passengers cannot bring the drug on board the vessel.

 

 

Cruise lines do not allow marijuana and cannabis-related products on the ship. The policies set out by cruise lines are clear; real and synthetic marijuana in all its forms is forbidden on a cruise ship.

 

The policy includes buds, oils, vape pens, vape cartridges, and edibles.

 

IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT OTHERS WERE ABLE TO BRING WITH THEM ON-BOARD FOR THEIR VACATION. WILL THEY PAY YOUR FINE? WILL THEY BAIL YOU OUT OF A FOREIGN JAIL? WILL THEY FLY YOU HOME?

Uh, no.  Cruise ships operate under maritime law, and the jurisdiction for possession of marijuana products is the flag state, not the US.  The jurisdiction in the terminal is federal, but once onboard, you are under flag state law for this kind of thing.
