Transpacific Brisbane to Seattle April 13, 2023

Recommended Posts

We love games, and people. Not only will we have plenty of cards but also Mexican Train Dominoes. Also, if anyone is interested, I would like to see a Sunday worship time. Royal Caribbean puts it on some of their longer cruises, but I don't think Carnival does. Maybe we can organize one ourselves. We have plenty of upbeat songs to enjoy.

Hello Paul,

 

I noted what you wrote above. Don't mean to be nosy, but have you checked your cabin on the deck plans?

I don't see a 4429 on Carnival or CruiseDeckPlans which I use mostly. Just in case you need to correct? Great on getting the free trip!   Are you in SoCal?

Bay Area, check your luggage tags for a cabin assignment since boarding passes aren't ready yet. Yes I use CruiseDeckPlans website too

Our first Sunday is in Noumea. I am planning to attend Mass at Notre Dame du Pacifique if I can find out what time that is. I'm not Catholic but have found it to be the best way to look at a cathedral [ and hear the singing] Kay

Hi-  I just got a notice that a 24 RAT or 48PCR test is required for boarding regardless of vaccination status. I arrive in Brisbane on the 11th and will just get one there. Maybe a local can recommend a location I'm staying downtown.

This is what is on the Australia Carnival Have Fun. Be Safe page

TESTING

..........All guests aged two years and above, regardless of vaccination status, are required to take a self-administered Rapid-Antigen Test (RAT) within 24 hours of boarding or a PCR test within 48 hours prior to boarding. Evidence of a negative result is required to cruise. If you receive a positive result, you will not be able to travel and can contact our customer service team on 13 31 94.

Please note there may be voyages when mandatory onboard testing may be necessary. This is more likely to occur on longer voyages...............

Makes it a lot easier.......I plan to travel with a couple self-tests anyway.

Seems you just take a pic of it and add name/date............

Dear Carnival Luminosa Guest,

We are looking forward to welcoming you aboard for your Carnival Journeys Transpacific cruise from Brisbane to Seattle. In preparation for this memorable voyage, we have a few reminders and updates. Admittedly, there is a lot to cover in this communication, but please read and follow these guidelines carefully to ensure a smooth start to your vacation.
 
COVID-19 VACCINATION AND TESTING REQUIREMENTS 

You will be sailing on a 22-day vaccinated voyage which requires guests, aged 12 years and older, to be fully vaccinated. Additionally, we strongly recommend that guests get a booster, if eligible.    

All guests aged two years and above, regardless of vaccination status, are required to take a self-administered Rapid-Antigen Test (RAT) within 24 hours or a PCR test within 48 hours prior to boarding. Evidence of a negative result is required to cruise. If you receive a positive result, you will not be able to travel and can contact our customer service team at 13 31 94 (or 1-800-CARNIVAL if you are in the U.S.). Please note that a document of recovery is not applicable for this Transpacific cruise and ALL guests will be required to provide a negative test result. 

Vaccine exemptions are required for guests, aged 12 years and older, with medical conditions preventing vaccination. Conditionally approved guests will need to present evidence of a medical need at time of check-in. If you, or a member of your party, meet the criteria for a vaccine exemption, you may apply here.

Guests who do not follow these required vaccination and testing guidelines will not be able to sail and will not be provided a refund.  

PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS

All guests are required to carry a passport with validity of at least 6 months beyond the debarkation date for this cruise. To comply with immigration clearance requirements for some of the destinations on our itinerary, passports will be collected during embarkation and returned prior to arrival in Hawaii.   

VISA REQUIREMENTS  

Depending on your nationality, specific travel documentation may be required to enter the United States. Citizens of countries that participate in the Visa Waiver Program must possess an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval to travel. ESTA applications may be submitted any time prior to travel and must be completed for each qualifying member of the travelling party. Applications may be submitted here.  

Citizens from countries other than those who are eligible to travel under the Visa Waiver Program, must obtain a visa to enter the United States. Please visit the U.S. Department of State’s website here to determine your visa requirements for entry into the U.S. Alternatively, you may contact the nearest U.S. Embassy/Consulate or visit VisaCentral for more information.  
 
Guests must also check specific travel documentation requirements by contacting the appropriate embassy or consulate for New Caledonia, Fiji, and French Polynesia. 

While we will do our best to provide you with as much information as possible. Guests should always ensure that they are in compliance with all travel and documentation requirements for this cruise. Unfortunately, guests who do not have the required documentation will not be able to sail and no compensation will be provided.  

MANDATORY TRAVEL INSURANCE 

To comply with destination requirements, all guests must present proof of medical travel insurance coverage for the duration of the voyage at time of check-in. The plan must include coverage for medical emergencies and carry no COVID-19 exclusions for cruise travel. Carnival’s Vacation Protection provides the required coverage for this voyage and eligible guests may purchase the plan up to 14 days prior to sailing (not counting embarkation day).

ONBOARD PROTOCOLS

We remain, as always, committed to the health and safety of our guests, crew, and the communities we serve. We will be sailing for 22 days, and it is our goal to minimize any possibility of COVID-19 transmission during the voyage, so everyone arrives in Seattle healthy and safe.   • Masks are not required on board during the cruise. However, masks will be required during the entire embarkation and debarkation process in the home port. Additionally, we recommend guests wear masks in public indoor spaces, outdoors when in large congregate events where physical distancing cannot be maintained and on water shuttles. In addition, we reserve the right to recommend more specific mask guidelines during the cruise if we determine it will protect the public health of all on board.
  • To allow proper management of any potential spread of the virus on board, it may be necessary to conduct mandatory COVID-19 self-testing at various intervals during the cruise. If necessary, self-tests will be provided on a complimentary basis. Carnival Luminosa’s team will keep you informed during the voyage, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
We will also be observing the following guidelines and protocols on board. 
  • Once we enter international waters, our smoking policy will align with our U.S. cruise guidelines. This will allow actively playing guests to smoke in designated areas of the casino. Smoking in undesignated areas, including staterooms and balconies, and discharging any item overboard, is prohibited and will result in a $500 charge, per violation. This applies to all forms of smoking, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, vaporizers, electronic cigarettes, and marijuana. 
  • For the duration of the voyage, the minimum age to consume alcohol will be 21 years.
  • All transactions will be conducted in U.S. dollars, so kindly plan accordingly.  We encourage you to come prepared with U.S. currency (cash and/or credit) for your onboard incremental spending as our team will have a limited amount of U.S. dollars to facilitate currency exchange from Australian dollars (only).  
  • Recommended gratuities will be applied at a rate of US$16 (standard staterooms) and US$18 (suites), per guest, per day. These amounts are automatically added to your onboard Sail & Sign® account as a convenience (unless pre-paid). However, while on board, you are free to adjust gratuities at your discretion. No adjustments will be made after the cruise. Our shipboard team members work hard to provide exceptional and friendly service, so we hope you will agree that this is well-deserved.

I checked the ones we got free from the feds, they're called "Flowflex" and also available at CVS. Those are RAT (Rapid Antigen Tests), so we're just going to bring our own tests and back up tests.

We too would love a Sunday Worship!   We  are Fred and Diane  and also from Florida!  We booked this cruise a week before we headed for Hawaii on Feb 11years.  I have never been so ill prepared for such a major vacation!    We are flying to Sydney and taking the 10 day New Zealand cruise on the splendor.  I still have to book hotels, flight to Brisbane and all excursions...yikes!!

 

We too love cards, games and people and would love to meet you!

Makes it a lot easier.......I plan to travel with a couple self-tests anyway.

I spoke with a Carnival up sell agent today (for the purpose of upselllling our 10 day New Zealand Splendor prior to Luminosa) and she also said you can use a home test and snap a picture of the negative test with a paper with the date.  This will save us money on the 2 cruises to pay for the successful upsell call!  Lol

Not sure if you saw earlier, I found decent flights to Australia out of Orlando 

Emirates can get you there in one stop in Dubai

taking a picture of a negative test result is so easy to fake, I can't believe this would pass as a "screening"

One leg we did, the other I got an exit row premium seat.

 

But I have also noticed a pretty empty flight, so I now have wife and I split a 4 seat section...it's a 3-4-3 configuration.

So, I have us in two premium seats, one apart, in a 4 seat section, allowing some space to lie down or whatever.

Once in the air, no one really cares what seat you sit in, as long as it's not theirs
