tbmrt Posted September 5, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2022 We will be leaving from Port Canaveral and are already dreading the car ride getting there and back. Have nightmares of Rt. 4! Google maps suggested Rt 4 to 528 Wondering about this route...A little more time, but maybe not as much traffic?? Get on I-75 N from US Hwy 41 N and State Rd 52 E 24 min (16.3 mi) Follow I-75 N to US-98 S/Cortez Blvd in Hernando County. Take exit 301 from I-75 N 13 min (15.3 mi) Get on Florida's Turnpike in Orange County from FL-50 E 55 min (40.3 mi) Follow Florida's Turnpike and FL-528 E to George King Blvd in Cape Canaveral. Take the George King Blvd exit from Florida A1A S 1 hr (68.0 mi) Take Dave Nisbet Dr to your destination in Port Canaveral
MissP22 Posted September 5, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2022 Is there ever a time when the traffic isn't a nightmare in that area? When we drive north I'll do anything to avoid going close to Orlando if at all possible.
thinfool Posted September 5, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 5, 2022 Roll the dice. I-4 is nasty, but the Turnpike is no picnic. A bad wreck on the turnpike can ruin your day....but that's pretty true of any road we take these days.
Capt_BJ Posted September 5, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 5, 2022 (edited) 528 > 417 > I-4 anything else just adds time and hassle. I live in the port area and daughter had to see a dr in St Pete regularly for a couple of years ... made this drive way too often .... the big I-4 messes usually happened from the Disney area north thru the construction of the big expansion. MOST of that construction is done and the associated backups gone . . . but I still like 417 to stay away from the 528/I-4 junction . . . Cienfuegos Posted September 6, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2022 528 / I-4 can be a mess. It's not especially intuitive, and one sudden lane shift can create a real mess.
