Rare Rogueperson Posted September 30, 2022 Author #201 Share Posted September 30, 2022 Good Morning from here. Googlemaps is a bit odd with your current destination. Sometimes it finds you and other times not. This is the first time its found me on this cruise. We missed the Top tier event in the last cruise but this time, we’re awake and ready for it. Well I am. The wife did not want to come to breakfast. She’s not a fan. So I’m here in the MDR alone. Its really slow today. I’ve been here 45 minutes already. At least i have coffee This cruise unfortunately is her first cruise where she is Gluten free. The cruise tries, but that’s a tough diet. Breakfast is the most limiting menu for her. Other than the top tier. We have no real plans to do anything. Invitation to Dance we plan to make because we missed both of the production shows last leg as well. Until later…
Rare Rogueperson Posted September 30, 2022 Author #202 Share Posted September 30, 2022 (edited) Here we are at the top tier event. Its probably the same between the cruise so missing it the first time wasn’t a big deal. Edited September 30, 2022 by Rogueperson

To me, that’s comfortable. But pool activities might not be feasible with the lower temperatures. What it does protect you from is the wind since it’s enclosed. Then I guess it’s just relaxing on my balcony… BRRRRR

Usually a preview showcase of future performance. This one had a short dance number with the production show featured dancers. They also have live orchestral music and recognize top cruisers. Our top cruiser had 2150 points I think. They also recognize a couple who made pinnacle on this cruise. They give free champagne and mimosas.

Its a little breezy at 11:20am. Its kind of humorous to see the lifeguard on duty in a jacket and bundling up.
Rare Rogueperson Posted September 30, 2022 Author #207 Share Posted September 30, 2022 I was just told that the Solarium pool has the capability to be heated. Explains why someone was in the pool in the Solarium, but no one in the main pool.

Slide water was warm, but the air temp was in the 50s. Was going to do the slides again in Greenland, but didn't get motivated.
Rare Rogueperson Posted September 30, 2022 Author #210 Share Posted September 30, 2022 Lunch is in the MDR. The smoked potato soup was ok. The chicken sandwich was better than i expected, but the “spicy mayo” was like thousand island dressing and not spicy. We almost had a problem. We told our waiter about my wife’s nut allergy and her risotto had almonds on it. Good thing she saw it.

I need a significant force of will to get into water. My wife convinced me to get into the hot tub on the last night of the last leg.

Hoping I can just bring some things down to the new room instead of repacking as if I am going home. The last time we had to change cabins on a b2b they took everything that we had hanging in the closet and put on hotel cart and we pack to our toiletries and whatever else loose items we had in drawers. Then they moved our luggage for us to the new cabin.
Rare Rogueperson Posted October 1, 2022 Author #214 Share Posted October 1, 2022 Today was a lazy day at sea. I’m totally detached at this point which worries me a little. I can only stay totally detached for so long before it comes out the other end and becomes wasting away. We just hung out not doing anything until dinner. Menu Got my escargot fix as well as beef carpaccio. Not the same as Chops, but still decent. also got Calamari Beef Tenderloin. yeah, I got steak again. It was good. Grand Marnier Suffle. Peach “shortcake”. Shortcake was missing. Can you see it? After dinner, we went to Invitation to dance. Not a bad show. Nothing really special. And then, we went to the Hush Party. Royal must be reading my surveys. For years, Royal’s DJs have been subpar at best. No mixing, just playing songs. This guy was mixing and remixing. Some awesome, some not so good, but this above and beyond just hitting play on a track which they have pretty much done in the pass. Last hush party with that crowd would have been awesome. This one was no slouch either, but we have a more sedate base this time around. And with that, I’m done for the night.

We rented there a number of times and it was always an adventure to see what we got.
Rare Rogueperson Posted October 1, 2022 Author #222 Share Posted October 1, 2022 Okay Fair warning. October is Salem’s Haunted Happenings Festival. Don’t be fooled that its a month long festival and that it will not be crowded. It was jammed. If you don’t get tickets for the museums either online after midnight or when they open in the morning, you’re done. We had planned for the Salem Witch Museum, but there’s a LOT more here. Haunted Houses. Tours, shops, museums, show. Just wow. I love this place. But you need at least a weekend to get a good sampling of this.
Rare Rogueperson Posted October 1, 2022 Author #223 Share Posted October 1, 2022 For lunch, we ended up at the Lobster Chanty. This place was featured on Diner’s Drive Thrus and Dives. My first question is why would you come to the LOBSTER Shanty if you’re allergic to shellfish. Menu The lobster martini was featured on the show I got the Nova Scotia Poutine which is new england clam chowder, cheese curds and fries. And of course the lobster roll This was not a cheap lunch. Just saying.
mets123 Posted October 1, 2022 #224 Share Posted October 1, 2022 As long as you like it, price doesn't matter. That's how I feel. Have you ever tried Yankee Seafood by the pier? It's also from DDD and one of my go to places on a Boston cruise stop.

Though to be honest, we were not hungry for more food. Not sure when we will be back. We also saw Harpoon Brewery. And thought we could check that out as we had about 3 hours left. Thats a big nope. It appears theres some kind of Oktoberfest going on.
