Questions about taxis in Nassau

Taxi fares are notoriously hard to find in print for Nassau ( except from the airport).

You should agree on the fare before you get in.

I’d offer $10 to Fish Fry, but it’s best if you ask 2 drivers a short distance apart, so they won’t hear the other’s quote.

They park along Bay Street and stand by their cars. Nearly all are very pleasant people, unlike in the US.

I am the original poster. Just got back from Nassau and wanted to follow up in case someone searches for this subject in the future. We ended up at John Watlings Distillery and were then ready to go to the Fish Fry. We asked the first taxi we saw and he said $10 total for both. We added on a $5 tip. When we left the Fish Fry to go back to the Senor Frogs area/Bay St. he quoted $12 for both of us. Again we added on a $5 tip. We thought the prices were very reasonable and saved us LONG walks in the heat.

We will be in Nassau next month and would like to go to Ardastra Gardens. How difficult is it to get a taxi at the pier?

They are lined up and begging you to get in their taxi (we are a family of 7 and two guys argued over us).

Have someone in our group who will have a scooter.  Are there wheelchair accessible taxis around or would they be best booking in advance with someone?  We are going from the pier to Baha Mar and then back, sailing on the Carnival Legend in March.

Thanks

Thanks

Limited wheelchair accessible vans.

Best to book in advance.

Googling yields a number of companies.

There is also the #10 Jitney Bus that would take you to the Fish Fry for $1.25 each there and the same price going back. The Buses are located at Bay & Fredrick St.s.

Thank you for this information.  Will they accept US dollars?
