Was just on the Voyager of the seas and the entertainment SUCKED , never walk out of so many threaten shows and the piano player in the Schooner bar was about the worst karaoke singer you could find !
it was an much older cliental than on a Celebrity cruise

Every sailing is going to have different people on it - generally the average age on Celebrity is much higher than Royal, NCL, and Carnival.  Nothing is absolute though.  I'm sorry you were so upset by a piano bar singer.  What were the ship shows that you walked out and why did you?

I was not upset ,the singer was laughable bad

walkout out the shows because they were bad , one singer was a Motown guy , his best singing days were probably 25 years ago

I hear you - alot of the karaoke I hear on cruise ships is terrible.  My partner and I have a running joke on our Celebrity production shows - I once dropped a glass of wine during Jersey Boys because I fell asleep during the show.  Now, we always joke about how good a show is on Celebrity based on whether I break a glass of wine.  🤣

OMG - I just looked at the most recent live review for the Voyager and I'm so sorry.  You got Jersey Boys and a comedian I've seen on another ship before and found not so funny.  Yeah, I would have been very upset by that entertainment as well. 😞

Interesting topic since we will be sailing on Celebrity for the first time next spring.  We are Diamond on RCL so happy to have our free drinks transfer though on Royal you can use them any time of day or night. Thrilled that there’s no smoking, stopped going to casino since the smoking kicked my asthma into full gear.  We are more amused than bothered by people wearing their pins as a sign of status, we stay away from VIP lounges since that’s not who we are.  Can’t wait to explore and experience Equinox and it’ll be interesting to compare, we’ve loved every RCL ship and have never had a bad cruise, hope this continues with Celebrity.

On RCL , most pinnacles are so much more demanding and obnoxious

while on Celebrity the Zeniths just blend into the crowd

Oh yes. and wearing their badge all the time thinking they are part of the ship inventory 🤣 Supposedly some of the Zenith's are also quite demanding but they are much more discrete 😉

I do not believe this is the case.

You did not mention your status with Royal but if you are Diamond or above you will be Elite on Celebrity.  Elite has a happy hour with free drinks each night but it is only during that time frame and is limited to specific brands or drinks.

Now, if you booked with an all inclusive fare, you will have a drink package which gets you 'free drinks' up to the package's limit.

I did mention that we are Diamond on Royal, they let you get your free drinks anytime and yes I’m aware of the drink package

Ah I missed that.  Sorry..

On Royal Royal the Diamond Drink Vouchers can be used any time but it does not work that way on Celebrity for the Elite Happy Hour drinks.

Generally, Celebrity is more expensive.  And, until recently, required you to book by paying extra for "free drinks and free internet."

You know.. I've been testing this theory a lot lately while trying to plan out next summers vacation(s) for my wife and I.

With the caveat that I'm not looking at a single cruise under 7 days, I've been comparing all the major lines on various itineraries that interest me and am finding that celebrity is the same if not cheaper than the others.  In some cases, once you consider the drinks/tips are included, celebrity is actually turning out substantially cheaper than the others.

I've not pulled the trigger yet because our first celebrity cruise is still 2 weeks away, but I can say that if the experience is better than carnival we will likely switch.  For reference, we're gold on carnival and have done one RCCL cruise before.

Unless you are super big partiers, I can assure you that the Celebrity experience is better than Carnival.

We aren't, never really were, and this is what we're looking forward to the most with celebrity.

Last carnival cruise we were on, there was literally a fist fight at the back pool between two drunken meatheads..

Most the Celebrity patrons are too old to fight without breaking a hip.

Just saw where a 70 year old passenger on an excursion in Costa Rica (another line) choked out an armed bus pirate.  Got a little over exuberant and the pirate was a 'code black' when all was done.

Costa Rican authorities declined to press charges.

Don't underestimate a motivated old fart.

But most of us old timers do have the experience and our weapon of choice on board....our canes.
