Just got off Breakaway New England/Canada cruise Oct. 9-16 2022; My review

We sailed into New York, it was dark. I had the curtains open and saw bridges and lights but I was just too tired to get out of bed to take pics. We met for a final breakfast. Glenna’s flight went out of Newark and ours went out of La guardia. So we said goodbye.
We picked up our big luggage in the terminal and walked out. Got through passport area quickly.
Then walked with the big herd of people to the bus lines.
Waiting for the transfer bus was again our longest line and about an hour in line.

We finally made to the airport. Had lunch, wished I had waited for the shake shack that we went by later. We passed the time catching up on internet.

The flight to Houston wasn’t too bad. Watched a movie, then the Friends reunion. Literally lol.
The flight to California had miserable tiny seats, no leg room and no entertainment TV.

I think we will book our own flights using miles or points next time.

I have some lighthouses to share. I’m not a big lighthouse aficionado so I can’t tell you where these are from.

Except this beautiful one is from our Facebook group for this sailing.

Mike wanted me to add a negative point.

He was upset that there were no premium drinks to be had in the casino bar, except good vodkas. And he had a premium drink card while playing in the casino.

He really like this premium Rum from Guatemala called Zacapa 23. He is known on the Bliss casino as “Mr. Zacapa”.
Not even Woodford or Crown Royal although they have that in the other bars for an up charge. He settled into drinking Jameson.

Rant over.

Thanks for a fab review! We were on this cruise too and can't believe a week has past! Some great memories by seeing your pictures and review!

I remember Glenna with her gloves from the Glow night, what a legend!

Tiramisu for dessert. My favorite (and really only) dessert on the ship. I’m not a big dessert fan. I know I’m weird.

Tonights entertainment is Syd Norman’s band doing Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album from beginning to end. Along with the story of making the album.

I think we gave up seeing Six or Levity but well worth it it my opinion. Mike and I saw Six on the Bliss earlier this year.

the band was great!

What times do the shows start at Syds?

warb: Thank you. Yes we did do a lot! Loved this cruise! Loved the Breakaway! Thanks for following! Happy Sailing everyone!

We are getting on the Bliss out of L.A. (San Pedro) for a Thanksgiving cruise to Mexican Riviera with daughter and son in law and 2 grandkids. First time cruising with kids in tow. So excited! I’ll probably do another review because I’m compelled to do it in some weird way.

This is great, because it is so true! 🤣

I'll have to remember this one when the next gambling thread comes up where we have folks who claim that they always win because the know "how to gamble."

Thanks for the review, always interesting to see what others did on the same trip. I also remember Glenna and her glow hands from glow night and her prom queen appearance!

classy_cruiser: So glad people got to see our friend Glenna in action. She has a wide circle of friends. I’d like to claim her as my bff but so would 30 other people. Ha ha.
She went from NYC to Sedona to be with friends and family.

Did I say that she is single? Wonderful person.❤️

There are 2 types of gamblers: losers and liars

I’ve been living this reality since ~1996. But I’ve seen the world (at least the Western Hemisphere)  in relative luxury because of it.

So you fall into the "liar" category then? 😋

Joyce, enjoy your time on the Bliss...still my favorite ship and I think our great Panama Canal cruise has something to do with that.  I was on the Bliss last Thanksgiving for the Mexican Riviera. Enjoy the holiday with your family!

Thanks for the great review and photos……We were suppose to be on this cruise but changed it over to a Mexican Riviera cruise on the Bliss 11/13……That let us cut out flying and hotels

Plan on booking the New England/Canada cruise for the end of next year now

Okay, I was going to let this die, but now I can't help myself.  I was an ABSOLUTE WINNER on my recent ten day cruise.  I am so cheap that I only play the penny slots.  No, not just the machines that advertise 1 cent; the ones that will actually let you bet one cent per "pull."  There are four such machines on the Encore.  I just sailed the Joy, and went in search.  I found none.  You can't tell on most machines until you put in a dollar and see what comes up.  After sampling about five machines, I decided that there were none on the Joy.  So, here I am with my fifth paper cash out one dollar voucher.  Do I make the trek to the casino cashier to "cash out," or do I just blow it.  What the heck.  I'm on vacation.  Live it up.  Find a machine that allows a minimum fifty credit bet and let it fly in two pulls.  I stick the voucher in.  I bet the minimum fifty.  I hit the "bet" button.  WT F?  I just won $1.80.  Resist!  Cash out!  I DID!  I bet exactly one pull, took the voucher to the cashier and got my $2.30 in cold hard cash.  So, I more than tripled my money on that single bet and quit for the duration.  I gambled in a casino and tripled my money.  Who can beat that???  😎🤣
