gam888 Posted November 14, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2022 We are considering going on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Caribbean with Colon as one of the stops. It is not going through the Panama canal. We have had experience with certain ports where every passengers have to go to a lounge to present their passports when the ship docks. Some local authority would come on the ship and inspect everyone's passport before clearing the ship and letting people onshore. That usually take a long time to process a few thousand passengers. Does anyone know if they do that with Colon? Or the ship have done some kind of "blanket check" with the local authority when it docks in the morning, and you don't need to go through the line up in the lounge to have individual passport check one by one to go through custom before people are let off the ship? Thank you in advance.
BillB48 Posted November 14, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2022 In the past they have always done a "blanket check" and once the ship has been cleared you may go ashore.
CruiserBruce Posted November 14, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2022 You never go through Customs when you book in a port for a single day visit. You may have Immigration clearances in some countries, but Panama is not one of them.
