Royal Casino Offer - cancel cancellation policy, Boardwalk balcony downgrade get freeplay, Casino Royale Offer Match Program

Hi, first time ever on Royal, first post ever on the Royal boards.

Have a couple questions . . . I received an offer for an Oceanview Balcony thru the Casino Royale Offer Match Program.  I submitted my casino status from another casino and got approved for the offer.  The offer actually just reads "balcony" but when I asked, they verbally told me it's an oceanview balcony.  I have an email into Royal, but they have not responded yet.  Plus CC typically has the correct answers, no guarantee the CSR you get that works for the company will give the correct answer.  Call 5 times, get 5 different answers.  haha !

1. What is the cancellation policy for Casino offers ?  I am paying taxes & port fees only.  There was only one cruise on the list of options that sorta worked for us, and we're not sure we'll be able to get away.  However, there's a deadline to book under this offer, so we have to book before we will have a definitive answer that we can actually go on those dates.  If I had to cancel, would I get a full refund of taxes & port fees ?  At what date deadlines (if any) ?  Any specific way to cancel in order to get a full refund ?

2. We are looking to book a cabin on one of the Oasis class ships.  As far as I can tell, the balcony cabin categories from least to most expensive are Boardwalk, Central Park, Oceanview balcony, Larger balcony, then Suites.  Has anyone ever gotten an offer, picked a "downgraded" cabin, and gotten any Freeplay instead for the difference or a partial amount of the difference i.e. requested this and been approved (or requested and been denied) ?  For example, Oceanview balcony regular fare would be $3014 vs $2314 for Boardwalk balcony, or $1834 for Interior.

3. Far Aft Boardwalk balconies on Oasis class ... I'm thinking get a cabin near the end/opening and I might be able to watch Aqua Theater from our balcony as well as get a partial view of the ocean, or look the other direction and have a boardwalk view/people watch.  Is this a good plan ?  How high or low should I try to get ?  How close to the end do I need to be ?  Any tips ?  Any specific cabins to pick or avoid ?  I think we would be fine with a boardwalk over an ocean balcony, as we typically spend very little time on our balcony anyway, so in recent years we've actually started getting porthole cabins (bonus: porthole cabins can be much darker than balcony so we sleep better/later).

4. Is Oasis class what we even should be booking ?  We've never been on a ship like this which is why we picked this class.  Is there another Royal class that is better in your opinion ? (i.e. Quantum or Quantum Ultra, etc)  The only dates that sorta work for us on an Oasis class ship are on HARMONY, so that's the ship we would be booking.  We do have other dates that might work as well, they wouldn't be on Oasis class, but I haven't determined specifically which ships/class.

edit: 5. Any other tips or need to know info about Royal in general that I don't even know to ask ?  This can be any kind of tips at all !!

You can cancel a casino comp cruise and get full refund of port and taxes.

It is best to call casino direct to book.  Go to clubroyaleoffers.com for phone number.

If you decide to cancel you can call at late as a couple days before your sailing for refund of port fees and taxes.

They will be able to answer question about which type of balcony your offer qualifies for and book it directly with them.

No they will Not give you freeplay if you downgrade your cabin.

Freeplay is only given on offers that specifically state a $ amount of freeplay.

If your offer is for a free OVB I would go for that.

Many cabin views for aqua theater are blocked because of purple abyss slide on Oasis.

The Casino desk tele # is 888.561.2234.  I find that they are usually the best in dealing with.

BTW, usually the cheapest balconies are the CP balconies.  Depending on the itinerary, OV balconies are more expensive and overrated.

Hi nelblu, thanks so much for the info !  I ended up getting through after being on hold for 1:45 and made payment at 4pm with just an hour to spare.  I found it so odd that I received the PDF invoice and literally no information on how to actually pay it, other than a mailing address for guests who want to mail or overnight a check.  Also, the agent was able to confirm the booking is showing up in my account, however its not showing up for me, so I guess a call to tech support is in my future, ugh.

Thanks also for your input on the CP vs OV balconies.  Yep, agree on OV balconies, we stopped booking balconies years ago for three reasons ... mostly because of price, secondarily because of sunlight waking me up too early in the morning !  haha.  And thirdly, when I did the balcony math and figured out we were paying like $500 per hour for the very short amount of time that we actually used the balcony.  There's just so much fun stuff to do all over the ships, we are literally only in our cabin to shower and sleep.

My favorite cabins are porthole where I can close the porthole plus close the drapes and get it really dark, but then open it for daylight or to peek out at the port or ocean during the day.  Of course, if its free anyway then sure I'm totally happy with a balcony !  But I'd much prefer interior with freeplay than balcony and no freeplay.   : )
