Our first time on Odyssey in 3 weeks. I haven't read that much about the ship so i'm curious what people think about the ship in general.

We have a grand suite so we'll have access to Coastal Kitchen (which we loved on Symphony). Hows the food in CK?

we had the UDP and enjoyed all of the specialty rest.  Ate breakfast in the solarium bistro most mornings, found the Windjammer to be a little to hectic every morning.  Cafe 270 is great for sandwiches and salads.

Ship is really nice.  Pool area tends to be a little loud on the main deck but it was better up a level.  Shows were pretty good, many love the effectors, but we found it to be way too cheesy(felt like a kids show).  Layout is interesting.  We loved 270 in the back of the ship  when the orchestra would play or the band.  The Music Hall was another favorite of ours.

Elevators were a pain, several were out of order(ship was less than  months old when we sailed, but I heard parts were the problem).  Ship is really nice and the storage options they added to our balcony cabin were really nice.

Ship was very nice but the complementary food wasn't up to par compared to prior cruises. I know food is subjective but it was a noticeable downgrade (both the MDR and buffet, last sailed before the pandemic). Sailed on Odyssey last month during November. Service was good to very good. Most things were fully booked by the end of day 1 so make sure you book restaurants/activities/etc. early. Giovanni's Italian was probably the best Italian food I have had on a cruise ship. Highly recommend. The shows (also subjective) were good (the production shows) to bad (one headliner in particular was awful, probably the worst show I have ever seen on a cruise ship). No show completely wowed us like on several other RCCL ships. End of the day, the cruise was very enjoyable. The ports were great. The ship was very nice. The complimentary food wasn't good.

thanks for the feedback! We're not big fans of the MDR OR the buffet, so we try to avoid them both whenever we can! We'll eat in CK and the specialty restaurants for most meals. I've seen good reviews for The Book so i'm reserving that. We're honestly so easy to please so i'm sure we'll have a great time, like on all of our other cruises! I'm just curious about the ship since we've never done this class before. We love Symphony, but also loved our cruise on the Vision last year!

ok, may I ask a favor? We are sailing on Odyssey in December, and my parents (god love them) have some very unusual requirements on what they like.  Could someone let me know the outlet situation?  Is there one by the bed?  How many US? How many European (and does anyone know if that changes if the ship leaves from Europe?)?

Also, the tv situation?  How can you break into streaming your own information on it.  We did it successfully on the quantum but couldn't on the explorer and it made them irritable all week...

Thanks guys!

i board January 14th so i'll be no help! I suggest if you search you can find youtube videos of the cabins which might help you with the plug situation. Also, for instructions on streaming on the tv. I haven't tried that (not enough time spent in the cabin!) but i know it was available on the Symphony. I'm sure you have to have the WIFI package....

We just got off of the Odyssey.  There is one outlet by one side of the bed. Wished they had another on the other side. The phone has a USB port. I plugged my cell phone into that at night. I can't answer the TV question.

We cruised on Odyssey over Thanksgiving. For what its worth...we found the MDR and Windjammer food very good...Beef and Pork dishes may have been the best we've ever had on a cruise.  The Solarium is wonderful...The Seaplex and Playmakers can't be missed.  Enjoyed the Casino....First time in a long time I didn't lose alot of money. Staff were friendly and service met/exceeded my expectations. Plenty of storage options in cabins.  This was a full ship with over 1200 children...and while the pool areas did get crowded on Sea Days.... there were plenty of seats on the deck over looking the pools. Ship really never felt crowded . We really enjoyed the Odyssey of the Seas

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that the casino didn't take all your money!! We spend a lot of time in there so i'm hoping it's gentle with me too!
