Looking for Excursion Ideas - Encore

Sailing on Encore 1/8. Have never been to any of these destinations so looking for recommendations on excursions:

 

Puerto Plata

St. John’s USVI

Tortolla - only docked here until 1pm is it worth doing anything?

Nassau (was supposed to be GSC) but they switched it.

If you click on the "Forums" link at the top of the page then scroll down you will find the ports of call section for the Caribbean/Bahamas, etc.    There are sub-forums that have lots of helpful info on things to do and places to see.

You can also check your roll call for ideas.  Usually several people get together and arrange a private excursion.

Everytime I see your post Cole I have to smile as El Dorado is still one of my favorite John Wayne movie. Forgive me if I’m repeating what others may have told you! That said, we’re off to the Caribbean in March aboard the Encore, celebration anniversary and upgraded to the Haven. We were looking for excursions and your suggestion to go to forums solved all our questions! Thanks for the tip!

Next time I get sent to Nassau I will probably just stay on the boat.  Huge letdown when they diverted us there a couple of weeks ago.

macewank. if you intend to stay on the "boat" you'll make the officers very angry. if you decide to stay on the "ship" all will be well

I hope we get diverted to Nassau. I can have a beach day anywhere. We love Nassau.

The 2nd stop is St. Thomas but I believe they have excursions for St. Johns.  Interesting that they switched to Nassau from GSC already.  I'm on the same cruise just 2 weeks later and there has been a lot of talk about Them switching from Puerta Plata to San Juan too.  For the 22-29 Jan cruise they also have the itinerary in reverse.
