Anyislandwilldo Posted January 4, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2023 I've read that Karl the fog can roll in around 3 in the afternoon. Does this happen often and will it impact our departure from port time? Will it cover the view of the Golden Gate bridge?
CruiserBruce Posted January 4, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2023 When are you sailing out of SF? The fog is not an every day thing, there are times of the year it is less likely. The fog can roll in at 3pm, or 5pm, or 7pm, or first thing in the morning. Some days the fog never clears the Bridge. If it rolls in, in can be high fog, which will block out the sun, but not block your view of the Bridge. It could be mid-level, which can create differing views. Or it can be right down on the water, blocking everything.

93yearsyoung Posted January 6, 2023 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2023 By the time for the cruise to depart, the fog should not be an issue. The worst fog I've seen is in the morning.
ATSEAMYLIFE Posted January 16, 2023 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2023 Karl is fickle comes/goes when he feels like it. It can be 0-0 visibility and an hour later be clear. In May the percentages are with you for being pretty clear. Actually mid-May should be pretty good weather all around. Coming back once in September we had to sit off the coast for about four hours before the fog lifted and they let us dock.
