Rare JSR Posted January 25, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2023 Do you have a recommendation for which side to sail west on, and if so why do you like that particular side? Thanks for the help.

TheOldBear Posted January 25, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 25, 2023 We do round trip TAs - so it mostly evens out 😉

First, why not take in a bit of London while you're there; then, of course, if you like a bit of sun, you sail port side westbound and starboard eastbound. If you hate sun - try vice versa. If you insist on the same cabin both ways, you are likely to be disappointed half the time. Also, on starboard side eastbound you get a good view of the Statue of Liberty shortly after leaving the pier. Port side coming west would mean you'd have to be up at an obscenely early hour to see it. Edited January 26, 2023 by navybankerteacher

Good morning @navybankerteacher Why on earth would one want to be in one's stateroom when sailing out of New York?

Likely not; but if one had a balcony and preferred it to a more public area for sailaway, the starboard side would offer a better view.

My wife would always prefer Port Side for arrival. I arise and bring her coffee, open the curtains then leg it off with my camera to be out in the action while she observes the statue in comfort 😂 ***** ******
