Drink pkg. and gratuities for it?

I read on another board that NCL is charging the gratuities to your on board account for every drink that you get when you have the free at sea drink pkg.  We've been on NCL many times, and this has not been the case.  Has this changed or perhaps the person that reported this was on Pride of America Hawaii cruise.

Link?  Is it possible this person got drinks while in port, saw the TAXES on those drinks charged to their account and thought they were gratuities?  Rather than waiting, or asking, they just jumped to a conclusion before the ship even shoved off and ran off to post online that they were being charged gratuities on drinks.

yes, either that or they bought drinks that cost more than $15 and saw the overage plus gratuities on their onboard account.  So, if they bought a $20 drink, there would be a $5 charge plus $1 for gratuities.

No they do not charge gratuities for drinks to your onboard account. When you select the FAS drink package the gratuities are added then, it becomes part of your cruise cost. As others have said, taxes, extra drink costs could have been mistaken for gratuities.
