CruisinginWonderland Posted January 31, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2023 This is our last port on an 8 day. From what I understand it's in the evening. Is there anything worth getting off and checking out? What's your best Victoria advice?
cruiseryyc Posted January 31, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2023 You might get better responses if you post on the Canada (Alaska, Pacific Coastal) forum. However to give you a few thoughts: - walk into town and check out the many craft breweries - take a horse drawn carriage ride - walk into town and just enjoy the ambience around the Inner Harbour All depends on what time of year (e.g. in June, July sunset won't be until 10:00ish) and how many hours you have in port.
rnr4thatsme Posted January 31, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2023 There are many great restaurants and neat bars downtown, if you like that kind of thing. Downtown Victoria is very pretty for a stroll around the Empress Hotel.

Thank you! You’re right. I forgot that would be considered Canada. I’m an Alaska route nube! 😁
cruisingrob21 Posted January 31, 2023 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2023 It's a nice walk into town - Buschart garden tours will be offered in the evening and they will have lights up. If you are going between late may and mid august, twilight isn't until 930 or 10
Northern Aurora Posted January 31, 2023 #6 Share Posted January 31, 2023 I have been to Victoria on business, with my husband on a land trip and several times as a port call. The community is charming. If we are on a cruise ship short stop we walk down to the Bard and Banker Scottish pub on Government Street and enjoy a meal. Great food in a historic building. Lots of independent restaurants. Some are farm to table type. Here is the promo video:
