Marga.Anders Posted February 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2023 We are taking a cruise from Southampton to the Canaries. As a souvenir we would like to buy a bottle of wine in each port and bring it home with us. We don't want to open them on the ship. What is the allowance for this? And how does it work? If we turn them in somewhere, is that safe or do a lot get lost? Will we pay taxes on them upon arriving back to Southampton? We are from mainland Europe. Typically security will take the wine (no limit) from you when you return. It will be marked and safely stored. The wine will be returned to you on the last evening of your cruise. 1

So @Marg.Anders limits would be up to your customs in the Netherlands. Or maybe the UK if that is where you debark at the end of the cruise.

Yes it will be at least customs in the Netherlands as we arrive there from the UK by car. But RCL does't have any restrictions? Cause that solves half the problem 🙂

Cause that solves half the problem 🙂 My understanding is that on European cruises RCL allows passengers bringing back wine or liquor to go ahead and take it to their cabin. At worst on RCL as @davekathymentioned, RCL will have you turn over your bottles bought in a port when you return to the ship but will give them to you on the last night.

I’m really don’t think there is a limit.
