gazafire Posted March 3, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2023 Hello Everyone, My family and I will be in Normandy via NCL Star on May 5 2023, and would like a tour of WW2 history from a Canadian perspective. Towns liberated by Canada, Juno Beach, cemetary etc. I have spoken to Normandy Sightseeing and they are full for that day and overlordtour. Do you know of anywhere else I can try, or that you have experience with? Thanks in advance Julia & Steve
CruiserBruce Posted March 3, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2023 Try asking on the France board, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/462-france-ports/
TheOldBear Posted March 3, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2023 I only have experience with the ships tour - in 2019 the tour included Juno & Sword beach, the Commonwealth and German cemeteries - and a lunch stop in Crecey [three courses, with paired wines] Is NCL offering a tour? Or is their tour only to Omaha and Utah beaches?
Rare John Bull Posted March 3, 2023 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2023 Hi, J & S, Other than Overlord, private D-Day tours which folk on Cruise Critic were impressed with - but I don't know if they're up to speed on Canadian sights like Juno or Ardenne Abbey are https://alliedvictorytours.com and https://www.label-west.com/ And even those who've taken ships' tours have been pleased, so don't rule out a ship's tour. Or rent a car or simple car&driver (pref one with passable English). The sights have good signage, English-speaking staff, and literature. And a bit of research in advance would be useful. JB 🙂

pink845 Posted March 5, 2023 #6 Share Posted March 5, 2023 We are leaning ourselves into renting a car. We want to see a more cdn perspective and travel on our own steam.
