May be a silly question but are plastic gloves available for use at the buffet?  Never gave it a thought pre covid! But reading that some cruisers are testing positive when they get home is a concern.

I usually get my food then always wash my hands again

You are much better off performing hand hygiene both before and after getting your food.  Plastic gloves give a false sense of security - I see people wearing gloves touch their faces all the time without realizing what they are doing.  I wash my hands before getting my food, use sanitizer before eating and then wash my hands after the meal.  Personally I'm much more worried about Norovirus than covid when touching shared utensils in the buffet.

Covid is an airborne virus.  However, Norovirus is transmitted by surface contact.  Would suggest that you thoroughly wash hands before eating in the buffet.  In addition, if you see an individual touch the foods with his or her fingers report it to one of the buffet servers.

We try to eat in the dining room as much as possible.

No big deal. Just saw gloves at a local buffet and thought it was a good idea.
