davecttr Posted March 7, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2023 (edited) last year we did not make it into Stavanger as even with tug assistance the wind was to strong. Stavanger port is also narrow which does not help. Olden is OK as there is only one jetty with lots of room Alesund has an open approach and room for two large ships Haugesunds approach channel is over 150 metres wide and there is a single long berth None of them are tender ports and IMO Iona would avoid tendering with 5000 passengers unless large local tenders were available Edited March 7, 2023 by davecttr

It seems like last summer Norway saw an unusually high number of days with windy conditions that affected cruise ship calls to some ports. The only port Iona had non-weather related problems is Gerainger, which they had to replace with Hellesylt.
molecrochip Posted March 8, 2023 #5 Share Posted March 8, 2023 Yes, there are no standard issues with any of the ports above. Weather is a different matter. Geiranger and the SeaWalk is still a problem I understand.
