Update on Stad ship tunnel

The work to build the Stad ship tunnel connecting Western Norway is expected to begin in autumn 2024.
 

The Stad ship tunnel will ensure safer and more efficient navigation past the Stad Sea, the most weather-exposed and most dangerous stretch of sea we have along the Norwegian coast.

The tunnel site hasn't been updated in a while, but the basic stats:
-- 37M high
-- 36M wide - Plenty of space for all of Hurtigruten or Havila's ships.
-- 1.7 KM long (about a 10 minute transit)
-- one way! Traffic managed similar to the Panama Canal locks.
-- expected to take 4 years to build.

 

I'd love to go through this, hopefully by 2030.
