Is it smart to book two years in advance?

Recommended Posts

With the latest change in Royals and Celebrity’s non-refundable deposit policy, we have pulled back on bookings further out in time. It really depends on cabin though. On Celebrity, you can still do a Sky Suite on board at the reduced deposit level, but a GS on Royal requires a full deposit. And groups rarely if ever include suites, so the “refundable less than non-refundable discussion” is not relevant.

Personally, we never do refundable. The price difference is usually substantial. We have lost a few $100 amounts but have saved many many times more over time by going NRD.

Know the ever changing terms and know what you can (or cannot) afford to lose.

The only ones I have seen in the past 5 1/2 years were some Junior suites on one of the Oasis class ships over a very short time period pre Covid in what looked like to be a test that was being done as it was so limited (one ship and a very small date range)

We have booked out while on board up to a year and a half on board many times. The deposite is less and it is unlikey that the price of the cruise will go down and if it does you can always get a creidt. We get a small on board credit and don't don't really see any down side. Get it that they are usullay on none refundable but if an issue come up we move to to a later date and pay the change fee. Has always worked for us.
