Port Canaveral Cruise Port Expansion

Recommended Posts

With the latest news out about expansion, so many questions need to be answered. Anyone care to take a guess who will be assigned the proposed new cruise terminal? Personally, I feel it would be awesome to finally get Celebrity or Princess to call PC home. Port Officials say it will be on the southside and it will affect current operations occurring in the proposed spot. There is no further detail provided at the moment. Well, the only thing in the area they are talking about is the Victory Casino cruise in the little terminal 3 which is right next to the new terminal currently used by Mardi Gras. It was also mentioned the Brevard Zoo will be putting in a 100-million-dollar aquarium and nature conservation walking distance from the south terminals. This will huge because outside of restaurants, not much happening for those who want to stay near the ship. Exciting times ahead, especially for locals who do not care for the drive to Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

The port has decided to expand an existing pier and turn it into a cruise terminal. The Southside terminals are still happening, but the North Side expansion will happen first as it will be a quicker turn around.  Here are some key details about the new cruise terminal at Port Canaveral:

Location: The new terminal will be located at the existing North 8 berth, which shares its basin with Cruise Terminal 5 on the north side of Port Canaveral.

Berth Modification: The North 8 berth will require minimal modifications to extend the current 1,020 linear feet bulkhead to 1,344 feet, allowing it to accommodate large cruise vessels.

Operational Flexibility: The multi-user cruise terminal will leverage technology to provide optimal flexibility for various cruise lines and brands.

Construction Timeline: The timeline for design, engineering, and construction is still in development, but the target completion date for the new facility is summer 2026.

Parking Facility: The terminal campus will include a multi-story parking facility capable of accommodating up to 3,000 vehicles.

Roadway Improvements: Roadway improvements, including turning lanes and a “flyover” ramp directly connecting the site with State Road 401, will enhance access to the new terminal1.
