JoRoy218 Posted May 6, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2023 Hi all: we have a S America cruise booked for next Feb. Have already had to change flight booking twice. One that appeals to us has a layover in Sao Paolo (from MIA) of only 1hr23min. Anyone been through there with such a short international layover? Appreciate any advice. BTW, this is an EZAir offering. Good price.

BTW, this is an EZAir offering. Good price. We connected through this airport. If the connection is the same carrier it won’t be a problem. Changing carriers could be a very…very long walk. It was one of the longest walks ever, as we changed carriers. Personally, I’d prefer at least a 2 hour connection. But, not always possible. Look at the airport map and see where your carrier’s terminals are located. https://www.saopaulointernationalairport.com/airport-map

Am concerned about this layover after an unforgettable transit thru CDG, had sufficient time but lines thru immigration, etc. and lack of staff caused us to miss our connection. Had to spend an additional 11 hrs in terminal waiting for next flight. Don’t want a repeat of that.
Rare Rick&Jeannie Posted May 6, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2023 We had a TERRIBLE connection in CDG...and consequently missed our flight home! Thank goodness it was not headed *to* the ship! Anyway, Air France put us up in an airport hotel so we got a "free night in Paris"...such as it was. No time to go out and do anything but at least we were not out financially. They are a code share partner. DL is in terminal 3 and Latam operates in Terminal 2 & 3. Now, we walked it. If we do it again, we will try the bus if It is in Terminal 2. Rare LACruiser88 Posted May 6, 2023 #6 Share Posted May 6, 2023 As a general rule when we have a connecting international flight, we like to allow at least 3 hrs between flights.

JoRoy218 Posted May 6, 2023 Author #8 Share Posted May 6, 2023 (edited) True, that’s why I came here for advice. It seems the layover times are either less than 2 hrs or 4+ hours. And of course the EZAir prices are so much more reasonable than booking straight thru the airlines. Will keep looking. Thanks for everyone’s input. Pretty sure DL flies TO South America, but doesn't fly WITHIN South America.

If the flights are on time, they would make it. If not, could be a problem. I’d see if there’s more flights afterwards, if we missed ours. But, we are very cautious and would want 2 hours or more to connect at São Paulo.
gaeltrav Posted June 14, 2023 #11 Share Posted June 14, 2023 You will need longer .It was a verrry long walk and quite confusing as you have to pick up luggage go through customs and drop it off again if you are staying in Brazil .. Should be OK if going on to Chile, but it is a very busy airport.
