bowen9475 Posted May 12, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2023 My daughter and I are cruising in July. What is the best/most economical way to stay in touch through text with my husband who will be at home?

weezal Posted May 12, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2023 FYI the internet plan can also be shared (usage on just 1 device at a time). see Can I get WiFi on board? https://www.carnival.com/help
wemjam Posted May 12, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2023 There are some "free" apps you can use to facetime people too I believe on the social plan. I am pretty sure my sister in law to be did something like that on the ship and talked to her kids each night.
Colorado Beach Bum Posted May 12, 2023 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2023 iPhone to iPhone using FaceTime has worked well for us on any of the WiFi plans. Also text messaging. Texting to non-iPhone users from our iPhone hasn’t been reliable.
Purvis1231 Posted May 12, 2023 #6 Share Posted May 12, 2023 Sometimes iPhone messages will work without purchasing an internet plan. 1
illinoisfive Posted May 12, 2023 #7 Share Posted May 12, 2023 I came off the Horizon this past Sunday and bought the Social Package. I used Whatsapp to converse with kids back home. imessage also worked for the first few days but then that stopped working so I went back to Whatsapp. You can aslo send/receive pictures through the app which is great too!

staceyglow Posted May 13, 2023 #9 Share Posted May 13, 2023 As an FYI, several of the major networks have free cell phone and data usage in Mexico. I have AT&T, and that is the case. If there are Mexican ports on your itinerary, and you don't need to be in touch 24/7, it is an option when you are in port.
