None.  They are "Elegant dress suggested" evenings.  Also known as "let's try and make money selling pictures night or updos in the salon night"

 Serves no other purpose.

"Phantom of the Opera" closes after 35 years on Broadway. I think we can 'milk' this "Soprano" clip for a few more years. (Its that good !)

Some folks enjoy these nights..that serves another purpose. I see no issue..

I agree with you.  There is a huge difference between Formal and Elegant.
