YC: Reasonable time to book a flight out of MIA post cruise

Never having been on a MSC cruise and of course the YC how reasonable is it to be able to be off the ship, get your luggage and be out the door headed toward the airport at 9am?  I have never been on such a HUGE cruise ship and am not sure what time to schedule our flight home.  On our Celebrity cruises we never booked before noon but we usually were off with luggage by 8:30am.  But the size of those were much much smaller.  Thanks for your ideas and historical examples.

No cruise line can ‘guarantee’ that you can be off the ship and out the door by 9:00 AM. There are just enough things that can go wrong. That said it is reasonable under normal circumstances for a YC guest to do this. YC luggage will almost always be the first luggage brought ashore. You can of course increase the probability of success by doing ‘self walk-off, early departure.’ YC guests will be escorted to the front of the line. But even then I have had that not work. There was a one-off glitch in securing one of the gangways that was used for YC guests.

I have sailed from Miami a few times,.NCL, RCL and MSC never YC or the matching levels on other lines. But I always do self depart and always made airport by 8-8.30 am. I do understand the plan for the unexpected, but personally I plan for the expected and accept the risk. I normally book flights for 11-11.30 and (touch wood) never had an issue, plenty of time.
