How early to be the one to bust the door at San Pedro?

We are booked on the Discovery Princess for the Total Solar Eclipse cruise next year.

As I understand it we start boarding at 11AM, although please correct me if I am wrong.

We are staying at the Crowne Plaza which is a few minutes walk away.

For kicks and giggles I want to bust the door.

What time should I get there to do that please?

 Thanks.

You realize the ship you are boarding will have docked that morning and disembarked it's pax. The terminal will be functional since when ever the ship docks. The doors could very well be open...but you would be held somewhere until the check in desks are operational.

I do realize that, that is why I asked.  It appears it is not worth the trouble.

Although we probably will head out right after breakfast.  No real reason to hang around the hotel.

In general, Princess ships will start check-in around 10AM, +/- and anyone checking in will then wait until boarding starts, generally around 11-11:30AM. If check in hasn't started, you may be waiting outside, though you will be able to drop off your bags.  Boarding will depend on your Princess status, with B2Bers going on first, then Suites, Elites and Platinums, then everyone else. If you are "below" Platinum status, there could be more than a thousand people boarding before you.  FWIW, we generally show up between 9:30 and 10AM as we are also keen to get on board ASAP.

We are just Ruby in a mini-suite so we will be waiting a while.

Thanks, that was very detailed and helpful.

No sweat, enjoy the trip. Actually, the wait isn't bad and once boarding starts, the waiting rooms empty out pretty quickly.

As long as we get some clear skies it will be our best vacation ever!

At least until Egypt in 2027.

  • 3 weeks later...

Get there at 0600 hrs and plan to stand in line for about 4-5 hours.  I would prefer to have a nice breakfast somewhere and take an easy ride to the port.  Go at 0600 hrs and maybe you will be onboard 45-60 minutes sooner than if you got there at 1000-1100 hrs.

We are on that same cruise and staying at the same hotel pre-cruise. We don’t have any status (this is just our 2nd cruise) but we figured we’d start heading to the cruise terminal around 10am (after breakfast and checkout).
