Vinpearl Beach in Nha Trang Vietnam

Royal Caribbean offers a shore excursion to Vinpearl Beach in Vietnam for $124/person. It looks like it's just transportation and entrance to a beach resort (no food or drinks included).

Has anyone done this and know whether it can be done via private tour/transport? $124/person seems like a lot of money just to get me to a beach, but I'm sure I'm missing something here (like maybe it's a really far distance or requires a boat ride to another island).

You need more information from RCI.

There are two possibilities

Vinpearl Beachfront is a resort hotel not far up the seafront from where cruise ships berth or tender.

But the price suggests this is an island resort opposite the harbour, accessed by cablecar or boat.

Went there some years ago, looks like it's been developed quite a bit since then.

A bit of a funfair, parade of shops, an excellent aquarium, extensive water-park and a beach, all included in the admission. But from what I see on the 'web a lot added since - golf, hotels, spas etc.

All very laid-back, kinda like Disney on tranquilisers.

Google "Vinpearl Island Resort", and check Google-images (Vinpearl is the name of the resort, not the name of the island)

If you only have a couple of days in Vietnam it'd be a shame to waste a day at a resort. But we were templed-out on a long cruise with a number of stops in Vietnam, had a half-day in Nha Trang so took a day off from sight-seeing. Very enjoyable.

You can buy a one-day pass, probably cheaper than ship's excursion, though you should check just where your ship will be, and transportation to the cablecar . As you can see from the photo, our ship was in easy walking distance.

The price Royal is offering is very high. The cruise ship tender landing is just about 2 miles away from the heart of the beach resorts. Most offer a day pass for about 350,000 Dong, which is about USD $15.  Just outside the tender port gate you will find all kinds of transportation. So let's say 4 people, USD$10 for taxi, which is high, four entrances USD $60, or a total of $80 for four, vs Royal wants $124 for one, with the extra $44 saved you could have food and drinks.

Have been to Nha Trang about 10 times 5 times on cruise ships, For private all day tours with pickup and dropoff at port gate we were paying $50 per person with lunch included. A few years ago, I was told the port adds $30 per person if the tour drops off inside the port. Most private tours pickup just outside the gate. So the question is, do you want to walk 150 yards to save this port fee?

And really at this port you do not even need a set tour, very easy place to just be a tourist.

Could you provide the name of the tour company you are using?

You really don't need a tour company in Nha Trang. Just take a taxi from the tender pier area to the beach area. Spend the day at the beach, strolling around, get a massage, pick a seafood place for lunch, etc. Take a taxi back.

As others and I have already said, you really do not need a tour company if you just want to go to the beach. As you walk out of the port, 150 meters from the tender to the gate, you will find many taxis, just outside the gate.

But when we have done tours here, we always have used  https://phamtours.com/

Have done many tours with them and never had any issues.
