George C Posted May 21, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2023 Flying in at 3:10 Friday , need to get to midtown asap , how easy it now to get a taxi , last trip was pre Covid and needed to take a shuttle bus to a area with taxi . I know traffic will suck.
Rare mking8288 Posted May 22, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2023 Which airline ? Taxi stands are outside Terminal B (the old/main/central terminal) and Terminal C-D, as well as Terminal A (remote/old Marine Air Terminal) - no shuttle bus, now that LGA has been transformed into a 21st century airport. Landing at the worst time of the day, and day of the week ... traffic is unpredictable and to expect near gridlock-like conditions entering Manhattan, with traffic flowing generally outbound ... (toll) Midtown Queens Tunnel isn't going to be any better. RFK Bridge (toll, also) to FDR south to midtown might be better - check live traffic on Waze or Google Maps. Otherwise, take the free Q70 SBS limited to transfer to the subway (E/F express line) for possibly a quicker trip if you are traveling light & can handle your carry-ons.
George C Posted May 22, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted May 22, 2023 We are on American, no subway , if we can get a taxi or Uber quickly we should be ok . Hopefully no long wait for luggage we are first class so hopefully there won’t be a long wait.

But as the previous poster said, this is a difficult time on a difficult day. The Friday before Memorial Day there will be significant congestion with New Yorkers headed to the Hamptons, Jersey Shore, etc and a lot of them will be in the car right about when you are headed in. The good news is that Manhattan will most likely be pretty quiet that weekend as people clear out.
Rare mking8288 Posted May 22, 2023 #5 Share Posted May 22, 2023 AA flights use Terminal B for arrivals & departure. Taxis and app-based Uber/Lyft as well as FHV (car services including Carmel) have dedicated pickup area - shortest walk is licensed yellow taxi, although you should expect a line to join, but generally speaking, it'll move along nicely. Uber is a longer walk, follow signage to Terminal B Parking, Level 2 area to request & wait for pickup at the designated location in that area. See these for details - https://www.laguardiab.com/terminalbdirections https://www.laguardiaairport.com/to-from-airport/by-taxi https://www.laguardiaairport.com/to-from-airport/car-service-and-shared-rides FYI - expect quite a few add-on fees & PM/rush hour surcharges, not shown is the Manhattan core's congestion/surcharge for all rides south of 60th'ish street, river to river. Good luck !
George C Posted May 22, 2023 Author #6 Share Posted May 22, 2023 Thanks everyone for updates , we are very familiar with arriving either the Friday or Thursday before Memorial Day but because of Covid restrictions didn’t do this since Covid , can’t wait to get back visiting friends and family and seeing some plays and eating real Italian food.
