Double check the safe, a upside down DL pushed to the back could be hard to see.

Tried to delete but too much time had lapsed, I see that OP is already home. Glad everything worked out for you.

@disneybabe, Glad you made it home without any major issues.  My husband lost his license at the Seattle Airport on his way to a business trip (fell into the track of the monorail going through the terminal.)  Anyway, for ID he used the back of his Costco card since it had his picture.  It worked and before he returned from his business trip I was able to get his license back from Seattle Airport security.

*UPDATE*

I’m home!
License never found. Thanks for the suggestions on places to look.

Requested early luggage tags from guest services so we could get off earlier to start whatever process awaited us in the morning.

Happy to say it was a short easy process to get off the ship.  When they scanned my sea pass card we were instructed to wait for a ship’s officer.  We waited off to the side for about 10 minutes and were then escorted to the luggage area then to the customs checkpoint. The ship’s officer requested a custom’s agent to escort us to a side room.  The agent went through the family’s documents then questioned each child about their names and birthdates.  She was very pleasant.
We started leaving the ship at 7:50 and were in our car by 8:20

Smooth easy process!😀

This is exactly what I expected.  Glad it worked out well.

Many, many years ago, cleaning out the safe at the end of a cruise, I put my hand inside (there was a lip on the front edge so you couldn't completely see inside) and felt around to make sure we hadn't left anything and I found a Canadian passport.   Took it right to guest services.   This was mid 1980s when I sailed with a voter registration card and bc and didn't need id to fly.  Not sure what this person did or if he was actually flying back to Canada from Miami.

This reminds me of my favorite airport story ever. I had gotten married earlier that year, but not yet changed my name. My dad reserved the flights, but put my married name, assuming I had changed it. I called the airline and they told me not to worry, but to just bring my drivers license with my maiden name, and my marriage license showing the married name change, and all would be fine.

Alas, it was not fine. They would not let me through security with my government-issued documents. They were insistent that I needed photo ID with my married name. Finally, in desperation, I pulled out my ID from my local soccer park, which had literally been printed at the front desk by a bored 14-year-old with one of those machines that prints an ID card while you wait, though it did have my married name. "Now THAT I can use!" says TSA, and allows me through security. Sigh.

So did you end up sharing with GS what happened and did they put the alert out to escort you to the customs checkpoint?

Yes I had been checking daily at guest services hoping the license would turn up.  On the last day I questioned what would happen at disembarkation since I no longer had photo ID. They asked a supervisor for help and that is when I was informed I would need to be escorted off the ship by an officer.  They noted it in their system and when my seapass was scanned at disembarkation it alerted the staff and an officer was requested.
