SimplyMarvie Posted June 24, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2023 Has anyone ever done this? We're looking at a really great excursion that runs from morning to mid-afternoon (~2pm) and ends a 20 minute cab ride from the port. The ship doesn't leave until evening, giving us at least 5 hours to get back on our own. We'd like to stay and have a meal in port, and then catch a cab back to the ship. (Worst case, we could literally walk back to Port in the time we've got.) so in an ideal world we'd let the organizer know that we were staying before they headed back so they knew we were accounted for and not their responsibility, and then stuff our faces with barbecue and return via taxi a couple of hours later, well before the ship leaves. Rare david63 Posted June 24, 2023 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2023 Normally not a problem to do this, in fact on many excursions it is something that is offered. There may be exceptions for specific reasons connected with the excursion and/or port.

Very common on most excursions. It states this option on a lot of excursion details. You can always check once OB with Shore excursion desk and advise your tour guide also. skynight Posted June 24, 2023 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2023 Many times excursions will offer the option of dropping you off "in town" where you can explore further. You just have to request this from the tour guide. May I ask what port? This might make a difference, but probably not.
