Rick Hawaii Posted June 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2023 This will be my first sailing from Reykjavik to London in late July on the Silver Moon. Is the seas usually calmer during summertime for this crossing? I still plan on bringing patches and Dramamine just in case. Thanks for sharing your experience. Rare Gourmet Gal Posted June 26, 2023 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2023 Seas were heavy on our crossing late June a few years ago. We missed a couple of ports on that itinerary in Ireland also due to weather.
Texas Tillie Posted June 26, 2023 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2023 Weather and seas, you pay your money and you take your chances. I did a New York to Iceland in May with calm seas. Would be prepared for whatever if doing it again.

Rothko1 Posted June 27, 2023 #5 Share Posted June 27, 2023 Certainly the seas are generally calmer in the North Atlantic in the summer months than in the winter. That being said: 1) You never know what the weather will be, so follow the Boy Scout Motto: "Be Prepared" 2) There are hurricanes in the summer that can push large swells many many miles away from the actual storm.

Rare JSR Posted July 8, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 8, 2023 We crossed from Reykjavik to the Faroe Islands and it was the roughest seas I’ve encountered in 31 cruises in June 2022 on the Moon. The crossing on the QM2 ( which is an ocean liner and not a cruise ship so she is built to cross) from Hamburg to Southampton and then on to NY was very rough last year at the end of June. This year, 2023 same week, the Southampton to NY, I had to keep asking, are we moving, because the seas were so calm. It is truly unpredictable
