Hi, we are doing a cruise out of FLL then traveling to Port Canaveral for a second cruise.  So looking for transport from the FLL cruise port on 01/27/24 to a hotel in Port Canaveral in preparation for a cruise on 01/29/24.  There are no nonstop flights from FLL to Orlando - would need to travel to Miami.  Any other thoughts??  Thanks!!

There are non-stop flights between FLL and MCO (Orlando) on a number of airlines on 1/27/2024:  Spirit, Silver Airways, and United according to Expedia. Kayak lists Silver Airways and United.

Alternatively renting a car could be as fast as flying five the time you will spend waiting to board at FLL, the flight, and the drive to Port Canaveral.

I am not sure if it will be running by then, but there is a new train service from FLL to MCO. Don't know if it stops at Port Canaveral, but may be worth investigating.  It is called Brightline.

Unfortunately the train will not be stopping anywhere in Brevard County which includes Port Canaveral. Hopefully will change in the future.

The train is scheduled to begin in September and will go direct to Orlando. Then there would be the transport to Port Canaveral. Overall at this point, easier to rent a car and drive.

I'm a Canaveral local who cruises a lot ... last one was out of FLL/Port Everglades.

Your transport options are more than LIMITED .... unless you drive they are virtually non-existent! But you've figured that out. You are ATLGIRL? Meaning Atlanta? If so, I-95 probably does not scare you .... the drive is EASY if you are comfortable on I-95. Straight north ~ 2 hours

Renting a car IS the best option. At the Canaveral end your choices are (not all agencies have offices here).

NATIONAL / ALAMO / ENTERPRISE has a shared office on the port property ..... shared shuttle

Budget is next nearest to the port - just a few minutes away but gets reports of being the most hectic when things get busy (more on this at the end)

Dollar / Thrifty share a site (and shuttle) a bit further away and AVIS is across the street ... 10 minutes away ....

+++++++++++

Port Can' has recently taken over the ranking as 'busiest cruise port' .... not all of the support services have kept up with this growth. The port has acknowledged need for more parking garages and on a BUSY day the rental places get swamped.

How do you know if yours is a busy day?

Go to the red link

then click the orange block .... this will bring up a spreadsheet of a 6 month window of the cruise port schedule (I can' post the link directly cuz when they update it changes ......you would get OLD info)

Some days see one or two cruise ships and small ones at that ... NO WORRIES

Other days see FIVE even SIX and some of those the BIG ONES .... then all I can say is plan ahead and manage your expectations . . .

The train will be going to MCO and there are plenty of options from MCO to Port Canaveral

Recommend you book a rental car at Fort Lauderdale airport and drive it to Cape Canaveral. You'll want to book with a rental company that has a location you can drop the car at Cape Canaveral / Port Canaveral as Capt BJ mentions above. You'll have a minimum 1 day rental or 2 days if you want to keep the car until the morning of your second cruise.
