kluv2cruz Posted July 19, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2023 Hi there. Sometimes, if I’m lucky, I can get my cruise fare reduced if the price goes down after I’ve booked but before final payment. I notice Have It All says “Low Price Guarantee” is included. Does anyone have experience with how this would work with CO? I’ve deposited on an obstructed balcony and CO allowed me to chose a better balcony. That better category of balcony is now, of course, waitlisted. The obstructed balcony is now a few hundred $ cheaper and is still available. I’m imagining, HAL will say I could refare, but I’d have to drop my better balcony, risk it not being available, then rebook at lower fare, and try to re-grab the better balcony. Has anyone had success with a fare reduction when CO is involved? Any possibility of a substitute perk like SBC being offered instead of risking the loss of my better balcony for a price reduction? Thanks for any wisdom/experience.

I did lose some obc getting the new fare which was expected and she told me before we proceeded. That low fare guarantee is a bit of a joke if you read the parameters around it. Rare Haljo1935 Posted July 20, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2023 My experience is similar to @Florida_gal_50 in terms of potentially losing perks when you refare. I have not been offered any consideration when current (CO upgraded) cabin level is sold out because you're ultimately looking to be there not in the lower entry-level cabin grade that has gone down in price. I just went through that last week when I was looking for an adjustment on current CO booking that has had price reduction. BTW - if you were to do this, (you may get a HAL agent who will do it, I just didn't) you shouldn't be putting your current cabin at risk as the agent doing it shouldn't release it until they're ready to reassign it to you so it wouldn't be on the open market but literally a few seconds. On a different deal, that's what they did for me. Curious of the outcome if you'll update us.
kluv2cruz Posted July 20, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted July 20, 2023 Thanks. My TA said I’d lose perks and my cabin. I’ll try calling the CO number.

It seems when you do this they have to speak to a pricing specialist whatever that means because club orange does muddy the water with the upgrade and all. Good luck! 1
KAKcruiser Posted July 22, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 22, 2023 The lower priced cabin that you originally booked is the controlling price. They will adjust the price to the current price but perks may change. Your upgraded cabin will stay the same. Whoever you get on the phone will tell you "no" but you have to demand to speak to a pricing specialist who will fix it in one minute.
kluv2cruz Posted July 22, 2023 Author #8 Share Posted July 22, 2023 Thanks… but sadly the pricing specialist wouldn’t discuss with me as I booked with a TA. She told me to get the TA to call. TA did call (before I talked with pricing specialist and they said I’d lose all my perks - which makes no sense as the lower price still includes perks). I asked her to call again and speak to a pricing specialist. Haven’t heard back. I’d better follow up.
KAKcruiser Posted July 22, 2023 #9 Share Posted July 22, 2023 This is one of the reasons I stopped using a travel agent even though it is cheaper. I like to be in control of my own booking.
