Quick Medallion question (do not want to scroll through hundreds of pages)

Only our second Princess cruise and first time using this medallion thing. 

1. Not getting an internet package so do we switch on airplane mode but switch wi-fi on? Will that give us access to Medallion features on board the ship like, finding each other etc. through ships intranet?

 

2. Assuming you have to have some kind of app installed on our separate phones (me and my missus) so that we can both use functions like finding each other?

Is the App the Princess app or is it something different

 

The pinned topic at the top of the board seems to be all over the place and really didnt want to search through hundreds of posts

You are correct for all of #1. Yes it is the Princess App. If you have iPhones you should be able to text each other on airplane w WiFi. My phone worked for texting friends but my husbands kept falling out so didn’t always work to text him 🤷🏻‍♀️ we were standard and did get one internet package and traded off as needed.

you can also use your medallion to track each other and get entertainment info, directions on the screens around the ship.

Yes, you are correct.  But to all those others reading this thread, please do not confuse connecting with the ships WiFi in order to use the Medallion App with gaining internet access.  Accessing the internet requires signing up and paying for MedallionNet which you may then sign in for through the Medallion App.

Yes and Yes.  Is is the Princess App used on board as well.

 

If Android, your only messaging option is what Princess App provides and that has not been alerting guests when they have a message so you have proactively keep checking for one if you are expecting something.  (We always get internet plan and then use WhatsApp).
