What to Do in Fort Lauderdale Area - Is it Worth the Trip

We have always cruised out of Miami, so have seen lots of things around there. In February 2024, we are again cruising out of Miami, and are flying into Miami, as we were able to find flights half the price of flying into FLL. We arrive on Friday, February 16, 2024, and don't sail until Sunday, February 18, 2024.

 

Any idea what an Uber, taxi, etc would cost from MIA to a Ft Lauderdale area hotel? Open to suggestions on things to see or do, hotels to consider, etc. We just want to relax and see some things without spending a lot of money. We are not lay out at the beach all day people, but don't mind exploring beach areas, shops, walking around, etc. I'm guessing we would then take one of the shuttle companiees' transportation from our hotel to the port of Miami on Sunday.

 

Is it worth doing, or do we stay in Miami and find something to fill time there? We would love to hear your ideas.

Just a heads up - any hotel in Fort Lauderdale or Miami is likely to be charging top dollar because your dates are the beginning of the Presidents Day weekend which is also the beginning of winter vacation week in many public school systems in New England and other northeast states.
