IndyKid Posted August 21, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2023 We're sailing on the Caribbean Princess in December. First time on PCL. The Dine My Way is showing 3 different location options - Palm, Island and Coral Dining Rooms. Does anyone have a suggestion as to which is best? Or are they all the same? Our room is on the port side, about mid-ship.
stoneharborlady Posted August 22, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2023 They are pretty much all the same, using the same menus. The only difference is the location on the ship. None very far away from your cabin. A little walk will allow you a second dessert!
NavyVeteran Posted August 22, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2023 The Island and the Coral are both midship just aft of the Piazza and the midship Panoramic Lifts. The Island is on the Plaza Deck (Deck 5) and the Coral is on the Fiesta Deck (Deck 6), If you are midship, then they would be the most convenient from your cabin. The Palm is at the stern on the Fiesta Deck (Deck 6). You cannot get there from the Piazza on Deck 6, because the galley is between the two dining rooms. The only way to get to the Palm is using the aft lifts or the aft stairs. This would probably be a longer walk from your midship cabin. The Palm was well-suited for traditional dining - not so much for people standing in line to enter. There is very little room for a line, so it can get rather crowded. If you like to get a drink at Vines or Good Spirits before dinner, than the Island would be more convenient. I like to get a glass of wine at Vines and carry it in to dinner, since Vines has a much better selection of wines by the glass than the dining room.
skynight Posted August 22, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2023 All have the same menu and basically the same decor. If you want to try and arrange a same time, table & waiters by speaking with the head waiter you probably will have a better chance in the Palm DR, deck 6 aft as this DR is larger. The Palm DR is accessed by elevator or stairs from decks 7 and above. After dinner to access the rest of the ship's public areas you have to go to deck 7 or above and walk forward. A starboard side section of the Coral DR, deck 6 mid ship, is used for reserve class dining. This limits seating in the remaining part of the DR. The outside waiting area for this DR is small. The Island DR is in the Piazza on deck 5 mid ship. It is convenient to pre dinner cocktails at the Good Spirits Bar and wine at Vines.
WisCruiser2 Posted August 22, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 22, 2023 If I remember correctly, they used to have slightly different times? Of course, that was when they had traditional dining, and on some ships one of the mid-ship dining rooms was also used for an early trad seating, then opened for "anytime" folks. IndyKid Posted August 22, 2023 Author #6 Share Posted August 22, 2023 WisCruiser, it gave me several different times starting at 5 PM up to around 8 PM for all 3. I went ahead and picked Palm for the 5 nights that we're doing the MDR option.
