MitzSea Posted March 20, 2006 #51 Share Posted March 20, 2006 Radio...... keep them coming. I love to check out everything I can before going. This is the first for our family to see the Century. I know we are not going until the Refurb. of her but I can dream everyday until that time. One big question?? Do you know if they are upgrading ALL the staterooms? bathrooms / beds etc? I will be tuning everyday. Any info. would be great. Take time to smell the roses and enjoy your trip. MitzSea

Rare Radio Posted March 20, 2006 Author #53 Share Posted March 20, 2006 Hello everyone… I am having a great time ! ! It is about 4PM and we have about 300NM until we arrive at Montego Bay, Jamaica. I had a class this morning from 8-11 with my DSM (Celebrity Seminar at Sea). They shared some great information about the “New” Century (Century Refurbishment) I can’t wait until it is done, and I am sure I will sail on the NEW century. The refurbishment is a statement of things to come with Celebrity. All ships in the fleet will be offering some of the new Century Enhancements (New Art, Flat Screen TV’s in all Cabins, New bedding.) The Galaxy and Mercury are also being planned for refurbishments (No dates yet…) I was unable to meet up with the other Cruise Critic members on the ship at the Connections Party because of our seminar. Tonight’s show will be “Shout”. The CD is Bruce Kidd. The Captain is Anastassios Lekkas. I have not been on a Celebrity Ship since 2003 (Millennium) and I had forgotten how much better the food is on Celebrity. Every meal has been wonderful. Even the Island Café service is much better that the Windjammer (RCI)….I forgot that they still use trays at Celebrity. The staff serves your food on the plate here at almost all of the Buffet stations. The only complaint that I have is that there is no Half and Half for coffee ( Only non dairy creamer ) . I haven’t seen any pre work for the refurbishment…I’m sure that there is some, but they are doing a good job keeping it from the passengers. I used the T-Pool today and it was wonderful ! The T Pool will be a thing of the past, along with the Sky Bar and Video Game rooms (Deck 12) My connection is not the best…So I will keeps this brief. Here are a couple more pics…. I plan on posting the Celebrity Dailies when I return.... I will try to post more pics again tonight… Thanks for tuning in Radio Pool Deck Art Sunny Day at the Pool Calm Day at Sea .. Rare Lois R Posted March 21, 2006 #54 Share Posted March 21, 2006 Hi Radio, thanks for the wonderful pictures:) I forgot how much I miss this ship:eek: :( I may have to sail her at the end of this year:D ......rather than waiting until 2007. quote by mgovernsandra " must also comment that this was my 7th cruse, first with Celebity, and the crew/staff was the nicest I have ever encountered! You could not pass by anyone without a hello ma'am, have a nice day, etc. They were always so polite and eager to please - from our room steward to waiters, bartenders, etc. I cannot say enough good things about this cruise. Food was phenomenal to say the least. Variety and quality was above and beyond the usual cruise standard. I would sail them again in a heartbeat!" Sandra, your post says it all....the crew and staff and Celebrity always keep me coming back. I will be taking my 8th Celebrity Cruise next month~the first 7 have all been since May 2003. I wholeheartedtly agree with your comments!!! Some may call me an X homer......and that is ok..because I am;) I have another one booked for October and after seeing Radio's pictures I am thinking December back on Century would be excellent! Rare Radio Posted March 21, 2006 Author #55 Share Posted March 21, 2006 Wow ! ! Thanks Lois... You and the reviewers were right on...It does seem that everyone goes out of there way to please every guest. I am Elite member...but no one knows it, and they are treating me like I am in the Penthouse Suite ( I wish I was ;)) I overslept tonight so I was unable to make the Captains Gala Dinner....I had to go up to the Sky Bar for Casual Dining....It was very nice, and the food was very good. It's off to the Show in the Celebrity Theatre and then to bed. We are currently on the Eastern most coast of Cuba and will now be heading Southwest to Montego Bay....We should be docked by 11AM. My class tomorrow is only from 9-12.....Our instructors hope to let us out early... The connection seems to be a little better now....( A little faster). Thanks for tuning in.... Radio ;) ;)
Gitana Posted March 21, 2006 #56 Share Posted March 21, 2006 Hi Radio--Thanks for the wonderful pictures of the Century and your great update. Will be cruising on the Century in July after she's been to dry dock--can't wait! Just read another post of a passenger who just returned on March 18 on the Century and their cabin and cabin across from them on Deck 12 had been burglarized. Have you heard anything about this? Apparently money and jewelry had been taken from the safe in their cabin. Any info on this would be appreciated. wishful Posted March 21, 2006 #62 Share Posted March 21, 2006 :) Happy Crusing Radio, Just got off the Century on 3/18 and heard nothing about the robbery, but I did see the water pipes bursting in the hall on deck 12. People lost water pressure and air conditioning. Ask Ogla (future cruise rep.) for a book on the New Century. Gave pictures and a detail change of the ship. Try to get to her future cruise talk and learn how the Captain's Club is going to change. Happy sailing
Rare Radio Posted March 21, 2006 Author #63 Share Posted March 21, 2006 Hello everyone !! We are currently in Montego Bay, Jamaica. We docked at about 11:30AM. The weather is sunny and warm (81F) according to the Captain. I haven’t decided what to do at this time…I can go to Margaritaville, Del Sol Beach, Sandals Montego Bay ( I received a Day Pass), or just hang out and visit the shops of Montego Bay. There have been some big winners in the Casino ( I was not one of them). Last night Fortune’s Casino was packed. To the question about the adult pool: There is no adult pool other than the T-Pool in the Aqua Spa….which will be sadly removed in a couple of weeks. Some Notes: “Ship FedEx from Century” …Guests can now have packages shipped to anywhere in the Continental US ( I didn’t know it was even available) / Today’s Movie in the Cinema is “Million Dollar Baby. The Mojito Sailaway party is tonight 5:30 – 7:30 The Veendam is with us here today in Jamaica. Here are a few pics of us pulling in to Jamaica…I will post more tonight of Jamaica. We should be allowed to debark any minute…… See you soon. Thanks for tuning in.... Radio Warm Sunny Day Getting Close to Montego Bay... . Passenger Terminal Holland America Veendam .. Andy Posted March 21, 2006 #65 Share Posted March 21, 2006 Hi Radio ! Thanks for the great updates. I was on Century's last sailing and we had a fantastic time. For a ship that is over 10 years old, she is in great shape. The crew was wonderful (but that is no surprise for Celebrity) We look forward to more updates soon. Have a great cruise ! People lost water pressure and air conditioning. Hi Wishful ! Did the pipe burst happen early in the sailing ? I was on the same sailing, and most of the ceiling in the public corridors (mid ship and aft) was missing on Decks 8 & 9. I thought it some work being done before the refurbishment, but perhaps it was due to the pipe burst. The good news is, the ceilings were repaired about 4-5 days into the Cruise, so it is fine now. darrencantwait Posted March 21, 2006 #69 Share Posted March 21, 2006 Radio -- thanks for your great commentary. I cannot wait to go on Century in January, even though it will be such a short cruise. I can't wait to see the new Century, but I must admit it sounds like I'm missing out a bit by not having seen the old. Will also miss the T-pool. Only been in the T-pools on M-class ships. Heard such great things about Centry class T-pools.

Rare Radio Posted March 22, 2006 Author #73 Share Posted March 22, 2006 Hello everyone…yesterday was a long day in Montego Bay. Short Version of the day: “Beautiful” I started my debarking at about 12PM….The ship wasn’t cleared until about 11:45. I wandered into the terminal and just looked around, There was a ton of people in there. Out in front of the terminal, there were about 300 taxis….It was first come first served for taxis. Lots of people approached me and asked where I was going . I told them Sandals Montego Bay……And we were off ! The Sandals Montego Bay resort was very very nice. We were given a short tour , then we were free to use the facilities for unlimited drinks, food, pool or beach. The resort is very near the Airport….so planes were very close (a little noisy). When returning (about 20 min) , the traffic was very bad. There is a public beach within walking distance of the pier, however the cab driver said there was a lot of crime there, and suggested that it wasn’t a safe place for cruise passengers. There terminal area is very secure and not pushy at all….directly outside the terminal area (outside of a gated area), there were small buildings with venders selling there wares in each one. This area was very pushy, with bargaining and offers for drugs were numerous. The ship left a little late about (7PM), and it was very relaxing to leave this city at night. Overall it was a fun day ! It seemed to be a huge shore excursion day for Celebrity. We sail next to Grand Cayman (210 nm), and tomorrow night we set our clocks back 1 hour to be on ships time. In Grand Cayman, there should be several ships there. Scheduled to be there are Navigator, Triumph, Star Princess, NCL Jewel. In Cozumel we should see Grandeur, Navigator, and Grand Princess. Last Night there was a big Caribbean Dance Party and Buffet on the pool deck (At 10:30) As I type this post from the Rendez-Vous Lounge, I can see us approaching Georgetown, Grand Cayman, It should be a nice day, there is not a cloud in the sky ! The sun is coming up and the light from the city can be seen. Here are a few pics of the day, and many more can be viewed by clicking on Radio’s Cruise Photo Page (At the bottom) Radio Welcome to Jamaica The Test Balcony for the new Century Montego Bay Passenger Terminal Century Aft Sandals Montego Bay
