FlixBus - Marco Polo to Trieste - buy tickets in advance?

We are planning on using FlixBus to get to Trieste for our upcoming cruise.

Is there any reason to purchase tickets in advance? It would be a Tuesday (Sept 26) mid afternoon if that matters.

Any others words of wisdom regarding use of FlixBus welcome 🙂

Flixbus pricing is dynamic, i.e. the price goes up as availability diminishes. The earlier you book the better the price.

We took the train to Trieste and used Flix for the return trip.  We weren't sure if we wanted to go to Venice or the airport so we waited on buying the tickets.   The tickets were 9E when I first looked but buying the day of travel, we had to pay 25E.  So if your plans are firm, buy now!

BTW, it's about a 15 minute walk from the bus station to the cruise pier.  Flat, easy to do.

Thanks!

We just got our tickets for about $18 CDN (about 12Eur) being a month our now, so pretty happy with that (-:

(Ah, so Canada; I assumed Ontario, Calif.   I grew up in Orillia. )

We're in London Ontario .. so get confused if we  just say London or if we just say Ontario .. can't win 🙂

We're actually displaced Maritimers retired here in Ontario 😎

Is flying to Trieste feasible or just go to Venice and take the bus or train?

Trieste Airport (TRS) is a relatively small facility, served mainly by regional flights to/from other locations in Italy (including Rome FCO) and by a handful of intra-European flights to/from such airports as Munich, Frankfurt, London Stansted, Dublin, and the like.  Theoretically it could be a convenient portal if you were starting from one of those European cities, but it does not really make sense if you are coming directly from anywhere in North America.

Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) does handle some nonstop flights to/from North America (e.g., Delta from JFK, United from EWR -- depending on the time of year), as well as connecting flights from other European airports.  Land connections (train or bus) between VCE and the city of Trieste are frequent and convenient.
