matymil Posted August 31, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2023 Does anyone know what movies are currently playing at the IMAX and what the tickets are running these days? We are going in afew days. TIA
Rare PrincessArlena'sDad Posted August 31, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2023 We were there in July, so the movies probably will be different. But, they were not new movies, and the price was expensive. They did have a few of the science short movies, and they were less expensive (comparable to what you would pay at the museum or Kennedy space center). However, the times were always when we would rather be doing something else. Only a couple of showings per day, at most.

I have to figure they want to replace them with something else.

I asked my 14 year old, and he said he never saw anyone ever go in there. The thrill theater is also in there, but that didn't have a single show the entire cruise. I don't think that reopened after COVID. There's a reason they didn't put the IMAX on the Panarama.

mz-s Posted August 31, 2023 #6 Share Posted August 31, 2023 I'm sure that Carnival is counting down the days until they drydock the Horizon and can put something in that space that will earn more money. Maybe another Casino expansion.
Out of Iowa Posted August 31, 2023 #7 Share Posted August 31, 2023 If the casino expands, it needs Lucky Lemmings - and a way to keep the Circle C kids from seeing how much fun it is.
mistycruiser Posted August 31, 2023 #8 Share Posted August 31, 2023 We were just on the Horizon in July and they had 3 brand new movies at the IMAX. The new Oppenheimer, Mission Impossible, and Indiana Jones. We went to 2 of the 3 and there was a good sized crowd for both. 3

mistycruiser Posted September 1, 2023 #10 Share Posted September 1, 2023 Don't remember how much the tickets were because my husband bought them.
80sGal Posted September 1, 2023 #11 Share Posted September 1, 2023 We LOVE the Imax and wish more ships had one! We have seen the new Top Gun and Fantastic Beasts on two sailings on Horizon, and the theatre was full with people lined up to get in plus several shows sold out. skywalkr2 Posted September 5, 2023 #12 Share Posted September 5, 2023 Clearly it really depends on the movies being shown. I wonder if they can keep these big crowd favorites past the time they are "new". If so that might help in times like this when the number of IMAX filmed movies being released is less. Rare wgeddings Posted September 5, 2023 #13 Share Posted September 5, 2023 We went on the Horizon twice as shown in my signature. Both times, the IMAX had first run movies and the hottest new movies as they came out (meaning the blockbuster tent pole movies). Prices were $9.95-$13.95 which is about the same or cheaper than land based ones. No showing was packed but all had 1/3 or more seats filled and I mainly went to afternoon shows. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
