Rare HappyInVan Posted September 1, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2023 What's this? I need an Aussie online Electronic Travel Authority Subclass 601??? What's this about a medical examination? Does anyone have any info on this? You have to scan the passport and read the chip?
Rare lyndarra Posted September 1, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2023 More likely you need a 651. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/evisitor-651
skatelady Posted September 1, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 1, 2023 We cruised out of Sydney in April and had stops in New Zealand, we needed visas for both countries. Both have apps you can download and are easy to complete. We did not have to have a medical exam. You do have to scan your passport and pay the fee. Customs in both countries wanted to see them. Check out their websites to make sure you have the latest information.
Rare arxcards Posted September 2, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2023 Surely, ETA visa waiver 601 is the way to go. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601 Although, I don't know how the application works - we don't need them here. I am aware they changed details around the medical testing a couple of months ago, but I thought this was only required in certain circumstances - i.e. travelling to Australia for medical treatment. An e-passport needs to have an embedded chip. I would presume that all Canadian passports would have them now.
Rare cruiser3775 Posted September 2, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2023 You need to apply for your Australian visa as quickly as you can. Most of them are approved online within an hour or less, but some applications are chosen at random for manual processing, and can literally take months for a decision to be made, as there is a backlog. If you are cruising to New Zealand, you need a separate visa for that country.
Rare lyndarra Posted September 2, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 2, 2023 eVisa 651 (which is free) you can; visit family or friends cruise or have a holiday undertake business visitor activities study or train for up to 3 months, in some circumstances"

Is this a more recent addition? The ETA 601 used to be the cheap option at $20, and I wasn't aware we had a free 651.

The OP lives in Vancouver so is probably Canadian? if so, they would need the 601. 2
yarramar Posted September 2, 2023 #9 Share Posted September 2, 2023 Correct, the 651 is only for British & EU passport holders. This is the place to find which visa will suit you best. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-finder
