What money to spend?

Do people get local money for PNG, Solomon's, Vanuatu and Fiji? And if so- where? I hate to leave locals with money they can't use but some of this is not easy to come by! Any thoughts?

You would generally get away with $AUD in those places (notes, not coins).. but otherwise you'll need local currency for the markets etc (bigger shops likely to accept c/cards).

Please remember that the locals don't have easy access to banks and it costs them money to exchange foreign currency which they really don't need or can afford to do. We always purchase a small amount of currency for each country we are visiting and use credit card if accepted, which it usually will be in Fiji and Port Vila, Vanuatu.
