FTTF

That is not true.

The timing of the offering of FTTF is seemingly quite random, in my experience.  I've seen it offered a year in advance, and I've also seen it only pop up (to my observation) a few months out.  My cruise later this year offered it about six months prior to sail date, I think - I wasn't looking for it, but did spot it.

However, sometimes the people who buy it cancel the whole cruise or just FTTF around the two-or-three-month-prior mark, and therefore their slot becomes available to purchase because they got a refund.

We found that a good time to start stalking the web site is when final payment is due. Then is when people cancel and they also have an idea of how many plat/dia there'll be.  Between the hubs and me, we would check a few times a day.  This usually paid off.  Also join roll calls and groups.  A lot of times people will post when they open it up.

Edit: Sorry PRC, I didn't mean to quote your post.

Is it true the don’t start selling FTTF until around two months before cruise sails?  I’m hearing mixed reviews.

Definitely not true. I'd start watching for it about the 1 year mark prior to your cruise. In my past experience, about a year prior is when it showed up, though I'd also seen it show up as late as 6-8 months prior to the cruise.
