It saves some time when you get go the port, but you can just wait until you get to the pier. Just plan for a little longer check in process.

   If he can't finish the e-docs  at home, he won't be able to print or download them as they will not exist yet.However, per your suggestion, he could go to the cruise payment; guest info; insurance purchased; pre-paid amenities sections, etc. and print out all that applied. That way he would have  hard copies to show them. Or he could download them to his preferred choice of media.
