Regent or your own air during crisis/war

The horrific war in Israel brings up a far less significant issue ….. regarding Regent travel.  I’ve always used Regent air mostly because I felt that in a war, covid shut down, whatever…it would be Regent’s responsibility to get me quickly and safely home or to the readjusted port.  In a fast evolving crisis I didn’t want the stress of dealing with airlines or being on hold for hours trying to reschedule.  Perhaps that would be easier than waiting for Regent to potentially zig zag my way home??  The ongoing and concerning thread you all are sharing aboard the Voyager prompts my thinking…..

Next June will be first time of 32 trips I have ever used Regent air.  When I was stuck in Athens because of cancelled cruise Regent stepped up and got us home.  In this current situation, I think it would be easier if you were NOT using Regent air; ONLY because Regent air doesn't have the time (apparently) to work with you.   Of course, I have status with Delta/Skyteam so I have never been stranded anywhere.

RA has been working yesterday, today and tomorrow EXCLUSIVELY on solving this issue....They are taking no other requests until the 2 cruises are properly sorted. I am good with that response.

We use Regent Air (thru our TA) for many reasons, luckily we have never been in a situation like the one this week.

.I want as many people as possible to be able to help when flights get cancelled etc.

Other reasons for using RA

Flight doesn't get paid for until final payment

I still get miles

The flight is then clearly part of the package for insurance.

Appreciate the transfers from the airport, so I don't suddenly don't have to become coherent after a long flight.

It is just easier, especially when you consider a precruise trip and overnight flights, to make sure you get into the correct airport on the correct day.

Have you tried dealing directly with an airline these days when something goes wrong? It’s almost universally horrible. I suspect that a large part of the reason Regent air is so hard to deal with is that they have to deal with the airlines.  I’m not sure anyone would be better off handling it on their own.
