gameazel Posted October 31, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2023 As the title states, it looks like we'll have more onboard credit than we're inclined to spend on our next sailing. Would we be able to use it for booking future cruises or for purchasing future cruise deposits? Thank you all.
oakridger Posted November 1, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2023 Is it refundable OBC or non-refundable?
gameazel Posted November 1, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted November 1, 2023 @oakridgerNon-refundable, from a price-drop compensation.
RuthC Posted November 1, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 1, 2023 No, you can't use it as a deposit on a future cruise. It's a separate transaction from the expenses of the cruise you are on. Sorry. 2
gameazel Posted November 1, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted November 1, 2023 (edited) @RuthC I see, that's a real pity but it makes sense. Thank you both so much for the rapid responses! Edited November 1, 2023 by gameazel

Sounds like you may want to think about some extra shore excursions, spa treatments, specialty dinners, premium spirits or wine, flowers, or shop purchases! Not a bad situation to be in! Have a fun trip! ~Nancy 1

Time to see if anything sparkles at me at Effy's 😉 I love that CC is filled with so many lovely cruisers who're willing to share their time and knowledge - much appreciated, Nancy! -Desiree
RuthC Posted November 1, 2023 #8 Share Posted November 1, 2023 Remember, whatever you charge on your current cruise is deducted from non-refundable OBC before the refundable. If you have leftover refundable, you can get it in cash or a refund on your credit card. Then, pay the credit card bill for the new cruise deposit with that money. A multi-step process, to be sure, but it does the job. Now, if you have no refundable OBC, and still can't find something to purchase, perhaps you could pay for someone else's purchase, and have them pay you in cash. Worth cultivating a new friend for. 1

That's a really important rule of thumb to remember! And excellent suggestion - that's an additional reason to get to know more fellow cruisers.
