lixogab Posted November 13, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2023 Hello. I'm sailing on NCL Sky this week. I usually don't use internet packages (unless it's part of FAS) but this time there is a good change my DW will have to work while we are on cruise. Q1. How is the quality (Speed, ping, jitter, stability ) of the internet connection on NCL Sky? I started looking the packages on the NCL app and website and it shows several similar packages (I don't have FAS this time): Unlimited Premium Wi-Fi: 1 Device – Unlimited use throughout the cruise - $295 Unlimited Wi-Fi: 1 Device - $299 Unlimited Premium Wi-Fi: 1 Device - $399 Q2. What's the difference between first and third and why the first one is the cheapest one despite being "Premium" Q3. I'm platinum, so I should get 15% discount. It looks to be not included in the above prices (the numbers are "too round" to include the discount) How do I get the Platinum discount? Only calling or talking to the Internet guy on the ship ? Q4. If I get the internet package let's say the 3rd or 4th day, will I get prorated price ? Any feedback is appreciated.
mugtech Posted November 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2023 On the Sky in September, Baltimore to Quebec and back, the internet was terrible. We got free internet, did not use it, every day we talked to the internet specialist, always said maybe tomorrow. There were supposed to be free sites, including Cruise Critic, never happened. Was told who I could complain to, was given an internet address. How do you complain by email that the wifi does not work?
Asawi Posted November 14, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2023 I am absolutely not sure about this, but here are my thoughts: The "1 device" can only be used on that particular device. That's why they are a little less. (The ones without "1 device" can be used at more than one device, but only one at a time.) "Premium" are the ones that include streaming. As for the discount it will probably show when checking out.
jsn55 Posted November 15, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 15, 2023 My take on internet 'at sea' is that sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes it just shuffles along. I'd never count on it for more than emails, searches and reading things like Cruise Critic. "Working" on a cruise may be productive, may be impossible. Soon it will all be upgraded on all ships because it's a major point for lots of cruisers. But now, don't count on it.
