L74 Posted November 28, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2023 Hi guys Got a cruise booked leaving from Port Everglades next April. We actually arrive 6 days before the cruise into Miami and plan on spending a couple of nights in Miami first of all then heading up to the Port Everglades area for 4 nights probably with Brightline. Rather than staying in Fort Lauderdale we were thinking of staying in LBTS as a small beach town feel appeals to us as we will not have a car to get about. Just looking for some clarification that LBTS would be suitable for a pre-cruise stay and easy enough to Uber to the port on the Saturday morning? Many thanks L&D
Corby114 Posted November 28, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 28, 2023 If you decide to stay in Lauderdale By The Sea make sure to stop for dinner and drinks at the Aruba Beach Cafe, located on Commercial Blvd next to the beach. Great food and great drinks. Just a nice, casual place to hangout.
TTEllis Posted November 28, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 28, 2023 Yes I've stayed in LBTS before, absolutely no problem getting to Port Everglades. I've stayed up there a couple of times. Great beaches nice older resorts. No worries.
capriccio Posted November 29, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2023 We live close to LBTS and have two cautions: there is a great deal of construction (a major capital improvements project) seemingly going on very slowly in the area east of A1A where most of the restaurants and the pier are located and the pier is not open after being severely damaged during a hurricane last November when an 80 foot portion collapsed into the sea. The construction project was due to be finished this month but when I drive by a couple of weeks ago it was obvious that work has a long way to go (but hopefully will be done by April). The pier will not be done for years.

Hope you have a great stay and a wonderful cruise.
