Coffee becomes bitter when it is weaker, not stronger.

Not changing the filter could cause the maker to overflow.

I hope you reported that crew member. I suspect this practice is not within their training.

Fun fact though. If you do get a bitter cup of coffee, sprinkle just a few grains of salt. The chloride ions in the solution block the bitterness sensing taste buds on your tongue.

You can see I'm not much of a coffee connoisseur. I prefer my coffee weak & mild and that's not how I find it on Princess.

I usually stick to the OJ.

It already happened on the Royal and soon to change on the Discovery.
While some are probably upset about it, I think most people are happy about the change.  It’s obvious to remain or regain profitability, cruiselines are going to have to appeal to new cruisers.
I feel like it is a step in the right direction.

Normally a change that causes anyone not to book is a net negative unless it causes more people TO book. People were already booking knowing Churchills was there. My guess is the use for this will change again at some point because as an arcade there is literally no one there when we’ve checked (we are on the Sky now). A very small arcade next to a casino on a cruise line that doesnt really cater to kids makes no sense.

Well, put me in the non happy with this camp.  On Equinox in October and the smoking area had the walking/running path going right through it.  I would think they could put it away from stuff like that.

On Sky, smoking area is by wake pool, so non smokers using the wake pool have smoke around.

All cruise lines should designate a smoking area away from other public spaces

The smoking area on the Sky isn't even on the same deck as the wake pool.  Ive been on this ship several times, including right now, and have never smelled a cigarette around the wake pool or wake pool bar.

Good for you. Last week there was a designated smoking area right above the wake pool.  Glad they moved it.  It was also in your face while using the walking track.

Last Night, Formal Night-

Deck 7 (outside) was set up with large  ashtrays for cigars. This deck always had lounge chairs but they have now added some bistro chairs as well.

I enjoy deck 7 but will just have to sit on the opposite said, no biggie for me.

I haven't been on the Sky but on the Enchanted, which is similar, you can occasionally get a whiff of smoke on deck 16 coming from the upper deck depending on the wind currents. It's now often but it does occur every so often.

Where was it moved to?

I can respect you have a different opinion.
I believe that most, if not all, nonsmokers will agree with my point of view and passengers that frequented Churchills as a smoking lounge will probably agree with your point of view.
My DH enjoys a good cigar every so often.  There is no way he would have ever visited Churchills to smoke, much less sit in there around with others that were smoking.  He would definitely go outside instead.
As for cigarettes, I could only hope this is a good sign for making the casino a nonsmoking venue.  Maybe?  One can dream!

I don't know, was just responding to the person who said it isn't there this week.  Last week while on the walking track when you rounded the back of the ship you would get the smell wafting up from below, so there was a smoking around around the wake pool, but I didn't actually walk down to see if it was on 15 or 16.

Agree.

This year we spent 138 days on Coral.

Churchills was obviously non smoking being an Aussie based ship.

It was a GREAT small lounge.

A wide sea view thru large windows over the promenade deck.

Large comfy armchairs.

Next to Crooners for drink service.

A very popular area for a read or doze off in the sun.

Is there no smoking on cruise ships in Australia?  I may have to consider one if that’s the case!

I think so…..( note, I think so ).

For certain on Princess in Aussie & NZ there is no smoking inside.

This includes their Aussie / NZ World Cruise…..not just in local waters.

As for other cruise lines, I’m not certain, but I think so.

Just off the Grand Princess and left from San Francisco to Sydney.   Smoking was stopped in Churchills and the casino a few days from arriving in Sydney ( could have been  our stop in Auckland before arriving in Sydney) - can't remember.  Didn't think the casino had any residual smell of smoke but Churchills did have an odor like they were over cleaning it to get rid of the smell.  To me (nonsmoker), Churchills has  always been unbearable to sit in.  Grand was non smoking in all our AU/NZ  ports.

That point is in my survey each and every time.  Celebrity banned all indoor smoking a long time ago and they are still filling their casinos.

Also been putting that on our survey at the end of every cruise.  Seems like Princess is missing a bet, literally, as we spend almost no time in the casino anymore.  Can't deal with the smoke!

It sucks when the game you want to play is only on the smoking side.

On royal people use the casino as a smoking lounge and it gets really thick. Hasn't been bad on regal in the casino.  I don't smell any smoke on the non side.

It's 2023. People shouldn't be smoking indoors in public anymore. Or give the smokers a lounge with powerful exhaust fans, but not the casino.

Has been the case for many, many years! No smoking indoors that is. Contrary to the wailing from some in the Northern Hemisphere.. it hasn't killed off cruising. And you would even be hard-pressed to find a smoker that doesn't think it's a great thing! They don't smoke inside on land.. or generally even in their own homes.. so they wouldn't think to start doing it on a ship full of non-smoking passengers. Hmm. 🙂

The smoke occasionally drifts down from deck 17 depending on the air currents. It's more noticeable when the ship is stationary in port.

Greta news!  It’s odd to see indoor smoking allowed because it is very frowned upon in the SF Bay Area .. well, at least for cigarettes.  When we flew to Las Vegas once, the flight attendant said, “welcome to California’s smoking section” when we landed.  😆 She couldn’t have been more right, although, there is no restaurant on the strip that allows smoking as of several years ago.

There are places here in California where you aren’t even allowed to smoke in your own multi unit housing.  And I don’t really go out to bars, but don’t think it is allowed there either.

Celebrity outdoor smoking areas are easily avoided.  You do not need to walk by them to get anywhere on the ship.

Agree with the exception of the walking/jogging/running track on the S and M class ships.  Not an issue on the E class ships.  In order to do a complete lap you have to pass by smokers on their authorized smoking side. No biggie as I'm a fast walker.

Based on how busy the non smoking side of the casino is, i'd say they would do OK.  It might depend on the demographic, but I don't think there are many smokers on this trip out of galveston.  I even walked through the small smoking side and it wasn't bad at all compared to my last royal cruise out of florida had tons of smokers.

They should have kept churchill as the smokers lounge with big exhaust fans.  Then make the casino non smoking.  When smokers need a smoke, that lounge is right next to the casino.

Are you missing the memo? Smokers don't need to smoke inside.

That’s a reasonable idea but makes far too much sense for it to actually happen.

The arcade is asinine.  Still haven't seen one person actually use it.
