Uber from Miami cruise port to Fort Lauderdale Airport

I have 2 questions regarding our stay in Miami prior to a Carnival cruise on the Horizon.  First we are staying at the TownePlace Suites by Marriott the night before the cruise.  Called the hotel and they said they have a shuttle to Miami  port.  Any info on this hotel (good or bad) and is the shuttle free?  Second we are planning on getting an Uber from Miami port back to Fort Lauderdale airport after the cruise.   Our plane doesn't leave until 4:00 pm but I would like to reserve the Uber prior to the cruise.  If I choose the Miami Port as the pick up location how will the Uber driver know were to pick us up in the port?  Will he drive into the area where the Horizon docks?  Thanks

Don't reserve for your ride back - you don't know when you will be off the ship and clear of customs.  Wait until you are picking up bags to request your ride - usually only about a 5-minute wait for Uber at POM.  The app will ask for the ships berth number.

You called the hotel, and didn't find out a cost for the shuttle? Call again.

If you don't reserve a rider ahead, you can compare the costs of Lyft and Uber and go with the less expensive one when you are ready to go to the airport. Since your flight doesn't leave till 4, you can even save a few dollars by agreeing to a longer waiting time with Lyft.

There is also SAS shuttle, less expensive, usually about $15pp.
